Character Discussion Why did Vivi take a detour to find a doctor for Nami?

#1
They took a detour to find a doctor to cure nami's sickness. But why didn't vivi just continue going straight to alabasta?
Vivi can just take Nami to a doctor in alabasta to check her up. In fact, since she's the princess, i am pretty sure she has access to the best medical cares in her palace.
Going to alabasta might take time, but finding an island definitely takes time too (it can even take more time since they just wander around the sea).

The SHs searched for the nearest Island and found Drumm. In fact I think on most islands there would be a doctor.

Drumm was the best decision afterwards because it was famous for their doctors and Alabasta was at the brink of war and the Baroque Works were there, too.
Nami would not have made it to Alabasta.

Do you even try to find an answer yourself?
You keep calling me dumbass but you can't read anything yourself without asking for help by making threads.
Geez, why so salty?
The bit about islands only come after vivi picked the option. But they didn't know they were near any winter island before that. That was my concern.

Did you miss the part where she says
1. Even the slightest illness can lead to death
2. They have to get Nami back to health faster so that they can sail to Alabasta faster, so they have to find an island?

you don't read my opening post, do you? My point is that they were wandering in sea to find an island, which I think is pretty unreasonable since it can take even more time. I mean, they can also find a nearby island along their way to alabasta and then take a detour. It was just pure luck that they managed to get nearby drum kingdom.

Rofl what kind of question is that?
Obviously because oda wanted to introduce chopper to the crew
Well i know that, but i just would like to discuss the writing here, which i find pretty unreasonable

What? They are literally sailing forward while looking for islands....
They aren't going back

I think they wanted the best cures for Nami if that was a bit risky and they were right in the end. Perhaps simple doctors would not have been the same quality speaking so.

yeah i just think it's quite unreasonable decision. Going to alabasta just seems like the better option, if i were vivi, since the ship could also get stuck for several days only to find nearby island

read the goddamn panels. Nami is the navigator, without the navigator at full health, they wont be as fast. Its coming straight out of vivis mouth on panel for fucks sake.
