Character Discussion Why does Garling look his age? Other Elders, Gunko do not!

Who knows how old Sommers and Killingham are. Saturn was 200+ years old. Gunko is at minimum in her early 60s. Still he looks like a teenager. Imu can apparantly stop the aging of his underlings. Didn't he do it for Garling? Or did he age for different reasons?

I have my own explanation. The National Treasure of Fishman Island (Energy Steroids) aged Hody and his crew. I think Imu's possession ("National Teasure of Maryjoa) ages the host. So Garling functioned as Imu's vessel a couple of times too often. Otherwise he could still look like he did on God Valley.

Garling seems like the kind of guy who enjoys playing "the game" on "hard mode".

Take a look at his actions on God Valley in Chapter 1095. He didn't really need to kill the King of God Valley before the game started. But, he killed him anyway, just so that he could handicapped. Being behind just makes things more "fun" for him. He enjoys the challenge. He might have refused the Abyss Mark or he doesn't use it much, just as a personal challenge.

It's also possible that Gunko and the Gorosei are just special. We still don't know if the other Gods Knights actually stopped aging or not. I've speculated for a while that Gunko could actually be "Imu's assistant" that we see hanging out with Imu in the flower room. Gunko could be slightly closer to Imu than the average Gods Knight.

Although, it's worth pointing out that the other Gods Knights do seem to know Imu exists. Qilingham was surprised by Imu showing up, but he still knew who Imu was. So, the other Gods Knights are likely all in on the secret of Imu's existence.

I do wonder if Imu's powers could be based around "memories". As in the reverse of "people die when they are forgotten" (Chapter 145). So, as long as Imu remembers who you are, you can't be killed. Maybe Imu just finds Garling forgettable? That'd...be kind of a weird, but interesting joke. You're "The Champion of God Valley"...but your boss can't remember your face. Maybe that explains the hair. He's trying to make himself more memorable to Imu?
