Questions & Mysteries Why doesn't Luffy have a scar from this

#5
scars arent based on the attack received

take a look at people who share scars in the story

wb -- roger
shanks -- teach
kaido -- oden
zoro ---- mihawk

you begin to get a clearer picture. jinbei doesnt seem to be scarred from the same attack interestingly enough

He has no animosity or a dream/promise to fulfill that he can relate to that wound.
Very true.
The scar below his eye served to show his tenacity and determination to venture into the world of pirates.
The big scar on his chest serves as a reminder of his failure and shows that he cannot afford to be weak/stay weak. It also sets up tension for his eventual battle against Akainu. This is the same case with Zoro's scar from Mihawk.

This scar didnt remain simply because there was no plot relevance stemming from it

Because it didn't make him look tough. Real warriors have many scars and they look damaged. Luffy's almost perfectly shaped x scar is just anime/hollywood stuff. Real damage looks like collar flower ear. It looks ugly, deformed, and unappealing but don't ever fight someone with collar flower ear...... Seriously the risk is high.

There are plenty of scars that Luffy should have from all his previous fights if we count every injury:

but just like everyone else above already said, scars in OP are more symbolic than technical. Most characters who have scars usually have stories behind how they got them that ties into future plotlines (Zoro/Mihawk, Kaido/Oden, Shanks/Teach, etc....)

Except Luffy's scar doesn't set up his battle vs akainu

It's different from Other scars where the characters were conscious in battle

Akainu scarred unconscious luffy from the back unwillingly since he wanted to stop Jinbei first

I think this could even make sense inverse. Like luffy growing back his teeth.

We now know Luffys DF is the Nika DF, which is the "most ridicilious power" and "could do anything the user could think of". Which pretty much explains Luffys Rubber Style fight and why it sometimes even didnt fit the parameters of rubber. Because it was the Rubber style how Luffy has imagined it. Luffy thought (!) and believed thats how rubber works, thats why his fruit worked like that.
Exactly the same as Luffy thought Milk will heal his tooth and Meat will give him energy and strength straight up back. Because he truly believes in these "facts", they become real through Luffys DF.

And i think the same is happening with luffys bigger wounds. Luffy thinks they just heal away and they do. He just believe it like that. The difference with the Scar of Akainu is, the scar is also emotional (Aces Death), so it wont heal as long as it will hurt. And this scar will hurt him forever.

Nika-Nika...
the fruit is only limited to his imagination, so only scars he will have on him are those that he wants to on sub-conscious level to remind him of important stuffs.

katakuri's attack is just that weak, it cannot even leave a permanent damage.

katakuri tried to seppuku himself out of embarrassment. But as expected his attack couldn't kill anyone
