Character Discussion Why is Caesar so popular?

#1
I've always wondered why a big part of the fandom loves Caesar Clown as a character. For me, Caesar along with Hody Jones have been the least memorable villains in the manga. I don't think they were bad villains, but compared to the rest I don't think they stand out. I even think that antagonists like Mr. 3 or Foxy were more original. Caesar has had fun moments (like when he was Gastino), but nothing else. In my opinion, Queen is the improved version of Caesar, a crazy scientist with funny moments but who is also a capable fighter. What do you think?

If you don't like Caesar or foxy, I feel sorry for you as a fan. You've been fucking with OP for ____ years and have never gone raw, stuck with the same dull sensation you'll get from any old shonen. Could be one of those Korean or American manga knock offs outside the rubber, who even knows lol

I like Foxy, and I'm not saying I don't like Caesar, but I didn't understand why most people liked the character so much.

If I didn't like eccentric characters like Buggy, Foxy, Queen, etc. I wouldn't consider myself a true fan of the series. Moreover, I am not a big fan of shonen, I find them very linear or not very original. That's why I like One Piece, because it doesn't look like anything and has a unique style. Each character has their moment to shine.

The question was not why many people like Caesar but why they like him SO much.

Yeah I was speaking generally, not addressing you.

The series says pirates but revolves around clowns, literal clowns in cases like this one, both affable and mean spirited. When the author is amused himself by these assholes it comes through in the work.

I don't know if I get the impression that Caesar is especially popular. But his power actually is exceptionally badass and clever... he holds a legit W over Luffy. Seeing him get away with short changing one emperor and escaping likely punishment from another (if Dofy's head was gonna roll you can imagine) makes him more interesting to me than the characters who may or may not show up again. Like we don't have a written reason at the moment to see Bentham or Mr 3 but Caesar has all this in addition to the building arc of science based characters colliding and apparently changing the game
