His first fight he slashed a whole mountain
against Big Mom he was constantly stabbing her
his main weapon of attack is a sword

If its because he uses his devil fruit, so what?

Greenbull also uses his devil fruit in fact his fight was all devil fruit but he has a black blade

So are we all just beliving Law isnt a swordsman because thats what Oda said?

I wouldnt count him as one as he hardly fights like a swordsman the way Ashura Douji, Kyros, Cavendish or Hyouzou do for example. But IRL he is confirmed to be one by Oda on that swordsman double page.

Interestingly he seems to be most close to Zoro or Robin amongst the Strawhats (and Luffy). Zoro has yet to challenge Law, either because he knows it isn't time yet as they have bigger fish to fry, not viewing him as a swordsman, viewing him as a friend or because Mihawk is ahead anyhow so no need to beat Law first.

he is swordsman
it's just once he uses his DF, it's no longer swordsmanship combat
Teleportation is not swordsmanship, switching souls is not swordsmanship, gamma knife is not swordsmanship

Just like GB growing trees is not swordsmanship despite being 2nd strongest swordsman with black blade, but if he uses his DF in combat with his swordsmanship, he is easily stronger than mihawk.
