I just dont understand, how in the world Oda offscreened an important fight like
  • Marco vs King. Marco got bruised up and this fight IMO is the most anticipated fight in Wano and Oda really willing to offscreened their 1 vs 1 fight.
  • Jinbe vs Who'Who. We only see Who'Who full zoan form and then he back to base/human form and kicking Jinbe. And both Jinbe and Who'Who already bruised up.
  • Robin & Brook vs Black Maria. Seems like Robin already bruised up in the last chapter, so what is actually happening?
  • Franky vs Sasaki. Like literally what happen in this fight after Sasaki got stabbed?
Its like does Oda will fill the "offscreen" in the anime?
So that might make One Piece able to end in 5-6 years.

Carrot vs Perospero off screened
Inu/Neko vs Jack off screened
Page1 vs Sanji off screened
Kaido vs Big Mom off screened
Law vs Hawkins off screened

Sanji simping on brothels had detailed writing.
Yamato and Momo running around for several chapters doing absolutely nothing had detailed writing.
Luffy running up stairs and fighting fodder had detailed writing.
Nami at a bathe house for fan service had detailed writing.
Irrelevant dumb subplots list that had detailed writing goes on and on...

Because he is a bozo.

He keeps drawing too many characters so he can't draw a fight unless it also gets a conclusive outcome, otherwise the arc would be 300 chapters long.

So we have to suffer chapters like this one where he just gives every character a panel while the plot slowly moves forward...

The moment Oda introduced fights that would last for days was the moment that this became inevitable.
We will probably get 1-2 chapters per fight, but to show the durability and stamina of each character involved in those fights, we have to skip most of it, or else it would get boring.

Only problem I have right now is that it feels like Who's Who and King got significantly less characterization than the other Top Beast Pirates, so I'm a bit concerned that we won't get enough of that. :lusalty:

We missed like 90% of Nami and Usopp vs Ulti and P1.
That Nami "Luffy will be King" panel came out of nowhere, no one felt anything from it.
Guess I'm nobody then

Imma have to be honest and say that you're most likely interpreting it wrong. Wano has been split into acts. Wano is also based on Japan. Most traditional Japanese plays used to contain 4 to 5 acts, so the speculation is that we'll be getting 1 or 2 more acts, so if anything, the reason we aren't seeing that much of the battles at this moment is because Oda is still setting everything up for the final acts. We'll definitly get a satisfying climax where every straw hat gets their own dedicated chapters/episodes for fighting the beast pirates. The fact that characters get "bruised" doesn't mean anything. These are some of the strongest pirates in the world we are seeing fight each other, so they'll need a lot more damage to actually get hurt. It's almost impossible to imagine that Oda would intentionally skip battles that all his fans want to see.

My posts automatically merged but the second part was meant for the thread, not as a reply

Simplify the story/plot for marketing purposes. Most hype plot points/fights are fake-outs or off-screened. Simplify the plot while simultaneously dragging the story. Everybody wins:

- Turn Post-Time skip into fanservice = more marketing.

- The story takes longer to complete = more marketing.

- The plot gets very simplied = fake hype and miracles.

- Offscreen fights & hype moments = Toei has filler content.

Like, what the fuck happened to Chopper's design between Pre-Time skip and post? If it's not purely a marketing idea?

Honestly, the entirety of the Post-Time skip feels like the Characters are actors on a movie set, filming themselves playing pirates.

It all feels like a caricature of itself...
