A scenario came to my mind. I think that it would be amazing if Buggy is there when BB kills Shanks and we get to see a deep, emotional reaction from him, at the sight of the death of his old friend.
After we have seen that reaction, the tears etc. Buggy will find the courage he never believed he had and will attack BB, accepting the possible consequences of his attempt. His will put his life time cowardice aside.
BB will kill him but before dying Buggy will smile, happy for what he tried to do. Just like Roger, Oden and Shanks (in this little mental fanfic of mine) had smiled as well upon their deaths.
We will get some boxes (similar to those Oda put in occasion of the death of WB), briefly talking about his life : him growing with Shanks in the ship of Roger, him living as a coward and a pirate that did many normal pirate things, him finding courage for the sake of his life long friend and concluding with : "The Roger pirates have the habit of smiling, when death knocks on their doors. He truly was one of them".
I would probably shed some tears if this happened. I know it will never though
