As we have already seen with Big Mom and Kaido, who were hyped up and then introduced as being these serious no non-sense monsters all about that pirate life but yeah uhh we found out eventually they are goofy and quirky just like Luffy.
Speaking of Luffy, he’s his son, and personality traits are genetic. To even go further look at Garp who is a carbon copy of Luffy but mature and went down the marines path. Luffy and Garp had the same interests and hobbies as a child too even down to the choice of weaponry to be a staff that or its family tradition for Monkey motif.
I’m not saying I would be mad if this was the case with Dragon! He’s the leader of the Revolutionaries, naturally he needs to be down to earth and able to get along well with anyone and rally them to his side with a fun honest lively personality and mind that can adapt. What I’m trying to say is he needs to have the traits that make people so drawn and inspired by Luffy and Garp already.
I think Sabo serves as a strong indication as even with amnesia he still adapted near all of the same mannerisms he picked up from Ace who was influenced by Garp and Roger was practically Garps spirit brother, his Sasuke
