The passion is demonstrable, but the repetition has gotten extremely old...I bet the constant bickering has definitely kept some people away, but for the most part, One Piece can stand on its own merit. If you like it enough (as most of us here do), you’ll filter through all the noisy bullshit to get what you want out of the series itself. Staying out of the Battledome on this forum helps cut down on a lot of said noise, those two keep that place BUMPING

I frankly think that Zoro and Sanji are some of the least interesting characters in one piece. This is partially Oda's own fault because he has made this series so big that 60% of an arc's focus is on side characters, 30% is on Luffy, and only about 10% is on the other straw hats.

Even with WCI, I feel like we never really got the payoff from the relationship between Sanji and the vinsmokes.

You're basically asking if One Piece wouldn't be as popular if you essentially removed 2 of the top 3 most popular characters in the show, main characters who are the backbone of pre timeskip One Piece at that.

With more popularity comes more die hard fans. Zoro and Sanji have a massive following because they are massively popular. Ofcourse OP wouldn't be as popular without them (and by extension their fanbase).

You know the people here are just a verrrrrrrrry small fraction of actual OP fans?
And even most who write around in forums (which is already a very small fraction of people who actually read it) do not care about the Sanji vs Zoro stuff, it´s just this forum has an extraordinary amount of them literally arguing every instance about their favorite characters and trying to bring everything back to them, and most of the time even if they argue something else, you know they are arguing from a stance of their character has to look good.

The freedom provided by the mods around here has positive and negative consequences, it would be disingenuous to criticize them for it when most of the time it actually has positive effects and people can discuss freely but yeah, Zoro stans started in this forum, basically spouting one nonsense post after another, and instead of saying who cares, Sanji fans tried to follow, and now you have two sides usually poisoning most discussions.

Like i said, small fraction, i do not know how it is supposed to influence OP at all, but it sure as hell influences their perception of OP, pretty monotonous affair if you constantly have to think about one character.
