ODEN described all his progress in the diary, and what would happen to the world in the future, things like ancestral weapons, their locations, what the ONE PIECE is, and several things could be in the diary. The diary contained information about your journey it is very important. The locations combined by all four Road Poneglyphs allow you to locate Laugh Tale, so you might as well have transcribed the location message in the diary, in a nutshell on a single page you would have the location information for the 4 Poneglyphs.


The purpose of gathering the 4 is because in each of them there is a hint of where the last island is, the 4 pieces of information together show the location of the island, after getting the 4, ODEN just needs to copy the location information of each Poneglyphs, after that, except for the other information they contain (history), you don't necessarily need them anymore.

For example:

Poneglyphs 1 = Go to X place.
Poneglyphs 2 = Go to Y place.
Poneglyphs 3 = Go to H place.
Poneglyphs 4 = Go to L place.

That's why you depend on all 4.

Mihawk could not by himself since he most likely cannot solo Kaido and Big Mom + their crews and this is likely why he claimed that becoming PK is an harder task than becoming WSS.
