Powers & Abilities You can perform Ryou without Hardening up(Stop confusing things

#1
This is why people keep getting confused.
Hyo never said you have to Harden up to use Ryou. The sccabards used it

Luffy used it without Hardening up

CoA is just spiritual armor you need to control. One way is the flow of the Haki outside of your body to create this bubble

When you Add Hardening to Ryou thats more force cause your using them together Which is why the Sccabards Hardened their swords for their ultimate attack

Don´t pretend something is obvious when Oda has drawn it both with Hardening and without, even in the same chapter (939).

One possible explanation is that you don´t need it, and that it´s separate, but it´s not confirmed.

Hyo used barrier with Hardening, in flashbacks of Sento and Rayleigh of barrier Haki there was no Hardening.

Luffy used lvl 3 CoA for the first time in chapter 946, his hands had hardening. When he thought back to Rayleigh, Rayleigh had hardening.

Heck even in Hyo´s explanation, both for barrier and penetration CoA, the hands were black.

Reason could be that there is a clear line between inward Haki and outward Haki (that´s how Hyo called it) and they are not really connected, so you do not need one without the other, but using both is stronger or something, but it´s far from confirmed.

Bro its shown in the manga, You literally don't need it and Luffy even distinguish that one is normal Haki. So the other one is a completely different one. Hardening and Ryou are two different applications that don't need each other

Its shown in the manga that its two different applications of CoA though. Both can be used in union sure, but hardening isnt needed to use flow

Honestly what I was confused about instead was how many people couldn’t understand the fact that you don’t necessarily need to use koka to put the flowing ryou to use. The only way to induce any real damage on Kaido is by having a certain level of flowing ryou. No one is drawing blood on Kaido without having that or some hax that ignores durability all together.
