I don’t think Doffy cares becoming pirate king. He just wants to tear down the world around him. Doffy himself, has never even stated that he wanted to be a king of the seas or anything grand like that. All that mattered to Doffy was doing whatever he could to tear down the world.
Kaido’s intention to start a massive war seems perfectly in line with Doffy’s desire to tear down the world around him.

Could you actually post a panel from Doffy himself that shows that his ultimate goal is to be king?
Because, from what I’ve seen, whenever his talked about his ultimate goal or life purpose, he always talked about destroying the world.

Also, you yourself claimed top executives know DD the best, they chose him as their king due to his potential, and used his rage for that purpose as well.

The trip to Mariejoa is irrelevant, he literally talks about seizing world power, which is a synonym for world domination.
Which brings me back to my point, different interpretation of what Pirate King is.

But they didnt fall... Most of them are not defeated, only Croc, Moriah and Doffy were. You can count Kuma too, I guess.
Jinbe never was, Boa never was, Mihawk never was. Among the newer members, BB never was, Weevil never was, Law and Buggy neither.
Once the Emperors are done with, the people who were called Warlords are coming back into the power struggle.

Crocodile is already on the move since long time, Moriah and Teach teamed up, Weevil is active, Boa is active, Law is active, Buggy, active, Kuma probably will be back, Doffy perhaps too. Mihawk is active. All of them will easily outlast the Emperors and have a higher focus in the end of story, whether as allies or enemies of the Strawhats...

I think his plan was to mess around with the WG by setting ground for the final war and one day bring chaos and devastation into the world by disclosing the national secret. The Ope Ope no mi would serve to obtain biological immortality and be an immortal chaotic ruler.
