1. Specific training from Mihawk. ( It's my bet not confirmed ) Mihawk saw that Zoro might have a hard time using CoO so he find a specific way to teach him this. So he has his eye closed as a part of training untill... and here's the flaw. Until when?
2. Zoro thought highly of himself at some point and Mihawk decided to teach Zoro the hard way that there is no time to play around in the NW. ( Maybe this is why Zoro is always trying to keep Luffy in the bay ).
