Questions & Mysteries Oden was stronger than Ryuma?

#1
This isn’t Clickbait. For those who remember, I was a big proponent of the opposite, that Ryuma was stronger than Oden first of all because of the Black blade and that Ryuma is the god of the country so he’s Oden’s god. But this has come to bite me in the ass.

If Ryuma is Oden’s god and he’s worshiped and has a temple and and his sword is a national Treasure, then why doesn’t Oden know Advanced Armament before meeting Roger?

There’s only three possible Answers.

1. No one in the history of Wano knew what Advanced Armament was, including Ryuma. Remember Oden has been everywhere in Wano and fought the best guys, so him surprised about seeing Advanced Armament shows no one in Wano has it and given how closed Wano is, no one ever had it.

2. Ryuma had it and maybe others of his time had it but it got lost as the centuries went on. We’ll come back to this answer

3. Ryuma was the only one who had it and decided not to teach it to anyone and so it was never passed on. This I doubt the most.

So yeah, I’m now leaning more towards option 1, that Oden is the first person in Wano to use Advanced Armament, and the Scabbards and Grandpa Hyo all learned it from him. Therefore Oden had Advanced Armament when Ryuma did not. Making it very likely Oden was stronger than Ryuma.

Note: Of course having Advanced armament doesn’t automatically mean you are stronger. The Boa sisters showed that. But Oden was also already a monster so that really adds up on top of the Advanced Armament

Now the rebuttal
The black blade is still a feat above Oden, and then there’s option 2.

See the main reason I was sure Advanced Armament existed in Wano a long time ago is that I assumed that’s how the Kozuki were able to Curve the Poneglyphs. These people knew how to cut unbreakable stones. And given this is skill a supposedly TAUGHT from generation to generation, then it must be Haki (since Everything is haki) and it looks very similar to how Advanced Armament as per Zoro’s sensei and Hyo explain it, being able to cut things that shouldn’t be able to be cut.

My confusion of course came from the statement that Oden learned this already. We know this. We know it’s Momo who didn’t learn the Kozuki stuff, but Oden learned it from his father. But that’s the thing, there’s two different things being taught here. There’s the Poneglyph language, and the ability to Curve the poneglyphs. These are two separate things. And Oden has only shown one, the poneglyph language.

Notice that Oden in Skypiea curved the message from Roger into Gold. Not the Poneglyph. Is it possible that Oden can’t curve Poneglyphs? So is if the curving ability is the Advanced armament, then maybe This ability was in fact lost through the generations. And after a while only the Poneglyph language was being passed down through the Kozuki

This lines up with Option two. Maybe Ryuma and even the Kozuki of his time knew advanced armament, but the ability was lost through the generations to now when no one in Oden’s generation knew it.

That’s a lot of assumption but it is possible. There’s nothing really contradicting this as a possibility.

But as of now, the most direct answer would still be Option 1. That no one in Wano’s history knew Advanced Armament until Oden.

Zoro spent two years with a black blade user but he didn't know how they're forged. Luffy spent 1.5 years with Rayleigh but he didn't know the concept of ADCOA. So just because Oden is oblivious to it, doesn't mean the concept didn't exist in Wano.

Also, Ryuma from monsters travelled across the world and was known as the strongest man of his time. Even if he doesn't have ADCOA, I doubt he didn't know abou let it.

P. S. There is also this fact that you don't need to know what Haki is to awaken it.

There's no way to be certain about it, but it would be disappointing if he was, because Zoro is passing Oden this very arc, for such reason there's enough hype around Ryuma to still push him much further in the power levels spectrum.

You're probably reading too much into something which primary purpose was to serve as a plot device to allow the main character to beat the villain. It's not that deep, Oda probably didn't think that much about it. Instead of racking our brains with complicated reasonings just so every little detail can make sense, I prefer to keep it simple : Ryuma is literally called the Sword God, considered the ultimate benchmark among swordsmen and turned his blade into a Kokuto, which Oden couldn't do. Oden, as powerful and badass as he might have been, was "only" seen by Wano people as the true leader of Wano, but never as the ultimate warrior. Ryuma is the one who is constantly being praised for his fighting skills. So Ryuma > Oden.

Ryuma is stronger. He decapitated a real dragon, Oden was only able to injure it.
We're never seen Kaido with full CoA hardened body so it's the fish dragon scales that's protecting him.
Not to say Kaido is not a real dragon but actually a fish, maybe an eel fish that can fly...

Of course I'm just kidding. However I still think Ryuma is stronger because of the black blade feat.
Maybe the knowledge of advance haki got lost with time.
We have no idea of Wano's status back in Ryuma's time, if its united or not.
Maybe only the Shimotsuki's who knew about advance CoA.
Maybe only few were able to learn it.
Maybe they were the ones who went to East Blue.
As per wiki, Shimotsuki Kozaburo left Wano illegally 55 years ago. 55 years ago Oden was only a chibi.
Maybe Kozaburo, the swordsmith of Enma and Wado had the knowledge of Advance Haki.
Surely haki has something to do when Enma was created, else, why would it have strange powers?
If Kozaburo left Wano 55 years ago that means Koshiro(51) was born in East Blue.
So then how would Shimotsuki Koshiro, the son of Kozaburo, the father of Kunia and the master of Zoro know about advance CoA if not from his father?
