Oars was the main fight, unwinnable in 1vs1. Ryuma was a warm-up for Oars fight.
Just like Killer was a warm-up fight for Kaido and Big Mom.

Kaido will either be dead or severly defeated at the end of this Arc and kaidos reign on wano will end. But even if the SN lose Zoro will see this fight until the end. How ever i believe we are at the point in the series where neither luffy or zoro will lose a single fight now until the end. If they lose a fight they will win a R2 right after.
For plot purposes kaido cant exist after thid raid.
Because if he does then he will kill everyone who raided him and wreak chaos on wano and its people and therefor he has to be gone.
