General & Others Ruination of a character - Sanji, The Predator, The Gag and the Rock Lee of One Piece

Could any of you do that to someone you consider family and not give a fuck? To invade a privacy and decency of someone you pretty much bonded like a family? No, the answer is a big fat no because it is utterly wrong.

Sanji's character sure he needs some help but I've thinking about this for quite sometime.

The problem here is a lot of Sanji fans want Sanji to be Zoro - get consistent fights be matched with Luffy but be more intelligent version.

This is back by the fans wanting Sanji to be on the roof but at the same time stating Zoro doesn't belong on the roof, the root of the issue is expectations of Sanji being a main fighter similar to that of Zoro since some people view them as "equals" though Oda made it crystal clear they are not.

** Chapter 45-48 : Jeopardizes Zeff's treasure by recovering Don Kriegs Crew - (Patty even knocks him down stating he's going to destroy the restaurant)
** Chapter 130 : States he gives the best food to Vivi & Nami the remainder of the crew gets the scraps or things about to go rotten
** Sanji/Luffy/Usopp/Chopper/Zoro all peaked in on Nami & Vivi while they were bathing sure he hasn't gone to far to grope her body without permission but the dude has been a perv from the get go

Just for Sanji -fans to understand, his character doesn't revolve around fights, he is a cook first - fighter second, similarly to that of Franky he'd rather build his engineering skills then him being a capable fighter comes second/third.

Sanji was not recruited by Luffy due to his strength but his charm, and kindness - Luffy liked Sanji cause he feed hungry people regardless of who they are, also wanted to break down who Sanji has fought each arc (TL;DR - his fights don't compare to that of Zoro & Luffy)

The main 3 characters of One Piece have been Luffy, Zoro . & Nami.

I can provide a lot of examples of the situation to reinforce my point if needed.

All in all - I used to think Sanji's character was in crisis mode but beside the groping during Punk Hazard his character is fundamentally the same, the problem is what Sanji fans are expecting from him, when he never did the things they are expecting.

No we don't want him to be zoro we want him to be the 3rd strongest.

One thing I would say, we shouldn't really expect character development stuff from one piece, its just not there in one piece only plot driven, oda cares much about it, characters already are defined or had their arcs with "Character development". So we should only look out of any regression to character if it does happen.

Agree with the criticism of Sanji becoming a sexual predator instead of just a chivalrous guy. Sanji sexually assaulting Nami in Punk Hazard was truly a low point for the character, and the point at which I started to truly despise him.

Ive got to say though that the complaints about his portrayal strength wise are due to some very misplaced expectations. The so-called Monster Trio may be a thing in Nami’s mind, but to the rest of the world and the story of One Piece at large? Irrelevant. Sanji was not mentored by a top tier. His current most outstanding claim to fame is being the son of Judge. His own arc came and went, putting the focus on his personality and cooking rather than combat ability. If all of these glaring red flags weren’t enough to signal to his fandom that they need to lower their expectation, then nothing else will.

The problem isn't the concept of Monster Trio itself, the real problem is fans don't understand what the canon term "Monster Trio" actually means. It never meant Sanji is equal to Luffy or Zoro or even close to them (and whether he was close to them is an entirely different debate, though I think he was before the timeskip), it meant he was among the three strongest crew members and significantly stronger than the rest of the crew, period. It makes more sense than denying a canon concept with poor excuses out of insecurity, which is something Luffy/Zoro fans have been doing for quite a long time in regard to Monstrer Trio to reassure themselves and strengthen the idea of Zoro/Sanji being out of their favorite's league. Just like Sanji fans have been doing with the Supernova concept.

Law's not a strawhat, Zoro is 2nd strongest and he had to take out the 3rd and it wasn't even a fight (that says a lot about punk hazard) The Vinsmokes are not strawhats and they didn't defeat the 3rd guy. So Sanjis place has not been taken by any of the strawhats. He's still 3rd lol.

All other Shonen's of this build that tried to "Mature" their characters and switch up their formulas ended up becoming shells of their former selves, and their popularity dropped dramatically because of it. Yeah, they kept the audience who grew up with the series, but in doing so, lost any potential new fans. People can either let it affect them and sully their enjoyment of the story, or accept it for what it's always been, and continue to enjoy the story as they've always have. It is what it is.

Zoro character regressed , but far from being ruined , and if Oda decide to give him a character arc that's not just " showing great feats" , I think his character will improve as well

the characters who I would say straight up ruined are Ussop and maybe Chopper

luffy went to great deal to damage kaido by sheer logic sanji who's got overpowered by p1 can't do jack shit to kaido.
