I get where you're coming from and he did regress as a character in general. Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I remember, technically he never cared about food being spoiled or altered. His introduction is him arguing with a guy because there was a bug in his soup, which he thought was nothing to be bothered about. What he despises is using food as a means to kill people because he cooks for the exact opposite reason : save people's life. Them being invigorated is the only thing he cares about.

the bug in soap he was acting passive aggressive so he did care about it, Its just he didnt show it much by playing passive aggressive with the guy. But he just generally looked like a guy who cares and respects food alot. Treating it like a scared thing, So idk his overall portrayal lately is not to my liking

Sanji said nothing about messing up his food. Zoro brought it up. Sanji couldve meant many different things.

Yeah sanji reminded him that he is the cook because he was going to play pranks zoro when he was sleeping instead
