Where is this ''killing'' obsession coming from? Is that because the Marines failed to execute Kaido several times?
Just because the Marines are incompetent, that doesn't mean this should be something needs to be done. Their duty is to execute prisoners that sentenced to death, the Pirates doesn't have to do that, they can bitchslap anyone, and call it a day.
Oden could possibly kill Kaido, or he could spare his life, and he already told him to get away from Wano. What do you think Kaido was going to do if he didn't have the hostage to win? Oden would keep beating him even if Kaido still tried after he escaped from the prison, so it wouldn't matter if Kaido died against Oden or not, Oden failed not because Kaido was unkillable, he failed because of the hostage situation.
Shanks didn't need to kill Kaido to stop him from going to marineford battle. Put someone like Shanks over Wano, Kaido won't getting near Wano ever again.
Do you believe that Xebec, WB or Roger needs to ''kill'' Kaido, to be the PK? Xebec beats his ass, as well as Roger or WB can potentially beat even Prime Kaido, and they become the PK, without killing the guy.
Kaido can be defeated by the Wano forces if Oden lived, once they defeat all of his army and men, Kaido won't be able to use Wano as his pirate base after his defeat, and he won't be able to produce weapons on Wano. So, he would have no business at Wano while Oden was waiting to beat him again, even if he lived after his defeat and escapes from the prison again, it really doesn't matter.
Even if Kaido dies, that's still going to be because of Luffy anyway, finishing already defeated Kaido is not really important, beating him.
The important thing is, defeating Kaido, removing Kaido's forces from Wano, and making Wano great again.
