Oda gave solid set-up for Sanji vs King. If he throws that all away for a lesser opponent or him doing nothing. Then....yh I gotta agree that Oda hates him. But I don't believe Oda hates him ( on the contray I think he's one of his fav characters). I just think Oda never got the chance to let Sanji shine due to plot.

The reason Oda makes jokes with sanji is because he can play around with his character. Zoro can’t be played around with because he is restricted. Oda can’t make him take an L in solo fights because of his promise to luffy.
Oda can’t make zoro look bad because he is the combatant.
Oda can’t do shit but make zoro look badass or have his dumb moments where he gets lost
Bull shit, Oda had all the opportunities in the world to give Sanji, a solid–good 1v1 in WCI. The WCI arc was all about Sanji: the entire arc food themed, with every character having food related abilities, with many characters that could have been Sanji's potential opponents etc. Oda simply refused to give that fu*king fight–but no just that... Oda didn't even allow Sanji's cooking ability to shine: Sanji spent two years trying to get those okama recipes that can make you stronger and never even brought it in the entire WCI, and at this point I don't even think that Oda will ever them important in the story. Sanji baking the cake is nothing special, with enough time any cook would be able to that so don't use it as way to redeem Oda.
