Given the recent information about the timeline for the end of the story, I feel it's now time to put into question the end game status of some characters

One such character is Big mom who has persisted for three arc's in a row at this point and now is gearing up to appear for a forth one according to some because of her ties to Elba.

I feel as though she should bite the Dust (or at least lose relevance) in this arc since she's heavily tied to kaido of course and this is the end of the "vs yonkou saga" and Wano is being hyped to outshine Marineford and so the fall of two yonkou does automatically raise the scale at least far above Marineford.

End of Yonko Saga is after Teach falls which at Paradise island arc.
It comes after elbaf arc

So BM will fall at Elbaf most likely
Post automatically merged:

She might fall at wano too
But I'm not 100% sure

I don't see her story ending in Wano arc with most of her crew, children, Katakuri who's the most likely to suceed her if she dies or Prometheus and Streusen being absent from Wano arc.
Plus I have the feeling that her story with Elbaf and the giants is not over.
I know that many don't want a third arc with her but I doubt they would stop reading OP because of that.
Whenever she'll be an ennemy or ally on Elbaf arc I don't know but my intuition says she'll have a role during this arc.
I have also the feeling that the connection that was built between Tama and her could be used further by Oda and that the young girl is possibly the only one able of taming the beast.

Whole Cake Island deviates from the norm. Big Mom's the boss there just as Lucci was the boss of Water 7/Enies Lobby. No boss battle or match-ups aside from the two Generals. Sure Katakuri was the "boss fight," but he's a stand-in for the actual one. Big Mom and the remaining Monster Ministers (minus Oven apparently) just means those missing elements get shoe-horned into Wano.

Luffy beating Big Mom here or her death aren't the only options. A face-heel-turn plot is in session. If Big Mom doesn't die, then they become friendly enemies. Elbaf could still be a transition arc where they agree to their overdue duel.

It's not really not wanting a 3rd arc with her. More so that this seems to be the arc for the Worst Generation to make their claim at fame. By putting down two Yonko this arc theres plenty of hype to go around for the entire generation. And if the marines like Smoker were to come in too, assuming Sakazuki heeds Sengoku's concern, then even the new generation Marines will get a piece of the action. Rocks vs the Worst Generation.

Putting Kaido down would be enough to give the hype to the Worst generation and it still doesn't stop the fact that her story with Elbaf feels unfinished and that it wouldn't be right if most of her crew, one of her Special Homies, her child who's the most likely to suceed her and the man who's responsible for her whole pirate career and the true king of the crew aren't present.

Putting down Kaido isnt enough. Especially if the young marines like Smoker and Tashigi end up coming in. Oda needs more than just 1 top tier to build some credibility into the worst generation becoming on par with the big time yonko commanders and nearing the top tiers for some of them. Not to mention prior to Wano they were going to take on 2 emperors as well.

Elbaf with her from what I got was just a way to get us ready for Elbaf, rather than have a story line related to her with Elbaf. The hyping up of the Rocks connection and its symbolism related to the rise of a new era when it fell, seems to be far more relevant to BM's story than elbaf.

Shes brought majority of her strong children already, only ones missing are the ones Luffy messed up, bringing them up again would be pointless imo. As for Prometheus, don't know why she left him back there, who knows she might even call him over for all we know. She can also call her fleet over if she wants.

This better be it for her...we still have a shitload of exposition to resolve, and Big Mom is not a core part of the series’ central ethos, so it’s about time she (and Kaido) exit the picture. Perhaps there’s more to tell with her crew, but that shouldn’t involve her after this arc.

If the (by then) former Yonkos become allies, fine, cool, whatever; the conclusion of Wano is likely to jumpstart the true endgame of this manga, so even if they stay, it can no longer be in an antagonistic capacity.

We will need to see what happens on Wano first indeed. Who falls and who does not. I also don't exclude a coup de theatre

I disagree, persons of the WG being able of taking a yonko down would be enough to send a very strong message to the rest of the world.
Also her story wasn't linked with Elbaf if it wasn't going to have its importance later in the general story. And it's only a part of her strong children who are here with Katakuri, Cracker, Snack who hasn't show his powers, Oven and many others being absent along with her other crewmates such as Tamago, Streusen or the chess soldiers.

Kaido downfall is to hype the top 3 supernova : Luffy Kidd Law
WB and Crew were there to hype Teach
Shanks is for Teach or Kidd
BM and her Crew are there to hype Luffy

Oda did reverse analogy with Teach and Luffy:

>Teach killed Yonko WB and took down his crew later on
>While Luffy took down BM commanders first then will take her down later on.

Luffy even avoided fighting her at Udon (it was Hyou who pressured him to fight)

I think her link with Elbaf would be used in the way to set up Giants as SHs allies like Doffy downfall made Minks potential ally to SHs.

When BM goes down this arc, Elbaf which had bad history with her would be more welcome to SHs when it is revealed thrybare reason behind takin her down, making em on good terms with each other.

Plus most of BMPs had showcased their skills in WCI and rest will in Wano, no reason to have one more arc just to see Snack n Struesson go all out. Katakuri n Cracker served their purpose, and Tomago we have seen gone all out.

Only valid reason, for BM return is Vinsmokes n Jinbei crew, which honestly could easily be handled in this arc itself, its totally in Oda's hands.

1 yonko is not enough to hype up all 3. Not to mention Kidd himself has history with Big Mom.

I also see Smoker and Drake coming out as prominent marines from this arc, as the likelyhood of Tashigi staying out of a country famous for swords is least likely to happen. One of the two is gonna be credited with the downfall of a yonko as well.

Point being , this the dawn of a new generation. BM and Kaido who represent the Rocks, are not gonna be lasting.
