Character Discussion Sanji's Immense Will

#27
I like your thread. Tbh it was refreshing reading something different. You are right that Sanji was just following Zeff's dream in Baratie and by doing so he forgot his own ambition. Also, he was not old enough to go out on a journey by his own. While serving in Baratie, he forgot what it likes to be a dreamer, which was reminded to him by Luffy and Zoro again.

Now regarding Sanji is not strong willed, its a relative statement. Compare him to any normal people in OP verse, he has an immensely strong will as you said. But the issue is when you try to compare his will to Luffy and Zoro's. Its like Lonzo Ball is a very good point guard. But when you compare him to Steph Curry, he is a piece of shit.

You gotta be kidding me. Sanji, who gave up on his nakama, didn’t believe in Luffy and placed his faith in Big Mom and Pudding, is strong willed? Sanji has, by far, the weakest will on the crew. Oda shits on his dream every chance he gets and his simp complex makes him too weak willed to fight anyone with a vagina. This dude could not even muster the will to save everyone in WCI by poisoning the cake, legit could’ve ended the arc right then and there but nope he’s too much of a slave to his misguided, sexist and outdated principles. Strong willed my ass.
Impressive how every single thing said in this post is wrong :milaugh:

Not wanting to put too much of a burden on your Nakama if that's what it takes to save you makes you weak willed ?

Then i guess you don't need a strong will to be a CoC user like Ace.

Sanji is weak willed because there's something he'd never do no matter what ? Doesn't it take a strong will to stick to something regardless of the consequences ? :sus:

Sanji is weak willed for not breaking his principles of feeding anyone in need, enemy or not ? Doesn't it take a strong will to stick with that, even though the easy way out would be to throw your principles away and score an easy win ? :suresure:

Rayleigh, the dude who just wanted to lay low on a boat he stole.
The dude that decided to lay low in Sabaody during his retirement, and just live in peace robbing some slavers.
Never had a particular dream, as far as we know. MAYBE just "make Roger Pirate King", like the SH's want to make Luffy PK.
Still has CoC.
:kayneshrug:

But if you don't have a dream of becoming WSS or something like that of your own, you can't have CoC, they say.
Isn't it beautiful?
Lmao.

Didn't WCI show he is weak willed? He abandoned his crew and did not believe in them at all. Even at baratie his lack of ambition towards his goal was shown that his mentor had to force him an ambition, which.... doesn't exist, when was the last time he asked about all blue at all? Never.

Ace was clearly weak willed and gave up on life in marineford and wanted to just end everything.

There's a reason Zoro and Sanji were both pushed forward as the last standing and willing to make the sacrifice back at TB

with Oda making sure to remind us the significance of Sanji's shared determination to make that sacrifice in the very next chapter

with how inspiring his words and actions can be for others

making those who witnessed what happened become his faboys to the point they even begin to imitate him

Naturally, as is always the case, Zoro is second to Luffy, but Sanji is next after Zoro, and that will be reflected when he's the next SH to become a CoC user

We have all the SH's that will have CoC shown on the spread where CoC is used for the first time by Rayleigh.

In order from Rayleigh at the bottom, there's Luffy above, then Zoro, then Sanji and finally Usopp.

Yet he was still a Conqueror and Whitebeard's No.1 bet to become the next Pirate King :milaugh:

Rayleigh is called the dark king for a reason.

I said Sanji's will is strong. But you cant compare him to Luffy and Zoro when it comes to willpower, they are just different animal.

I also disagree about Zoro is second to Luffy in willpower. I think his willpower might be even stronger than Luffy's.

Luffy's superior will power is self explanatory. A Conqueror like Zoro would only follow a superior Conqueror.

Point is that in arguably the greatest "Willpower" moment pre time skip for Zoro, Sanji was put at his side to show that he's not that far behind and stands out as well from the rest of the crew.

That's why the order in which they will get CoC is also Luffy > Zoro > Sanji.

Btw, their outstanding will power could be seen in the fact that in TB their Zombies have maintained their personality for a significant period of time, refusing to comply to orders and going directly against them even, for example in Sanji's case the Zombie with his shadow refusing to hit a woman and protecting them instead.

You are making it sound like Zoro was tamed by the superior willpower of Luffy, lol. It doesnt really work like that. We know that Zoro is not the person to follow someone in a typical setup.
You cant make Zoro follow anybody with any type of superior stats, be it strength or willpower. What Luffy has is a mysterious power mentioned by Mihawk which turns people around him as his ally. I think its mainly Luffy's simplicity and pure heart.
Note that, this is the same Mihawk who was surprised by Zoro's willpower when the first fought at Baratie and he didnt mention anything about willpower when it came to Luffy. Also note that, Sanji was inspired not only by Luffy, but also Zoro, he placed them side-by-side.

We also have panels where Zoro claims he is just built different :myman: Take this =>

Lol Sanji is not getting coc dude !

Is Diable jambe CoC manifestation of Sanji's spirit ?

I dont like everyone to have CoC but after seeing the asura spirit there is possibility Sanji will awake his own CoC version against commanders.

Honestly the point of CoC being rare is slowly losing the plot. What kind of "king" sanji would be ? Unlike Zoro he has ambition of becoming strongest swordsman .
Sanji isn’t getting coc regardless

Fighting back against childhood bullies in one panel while he mostly just endured their abuse for the rest of his flashback is supposed to be evidence of his strong will? Running away from home is supposed to be evidence of his strong will?

The fact that he shared Zeff's dream is irrelevant, someone who forgets their own dream so easily and has to be reminded of it by Zoro and Luffy has a very weak will.

Also his actions in WCI show how weak his will is. He's also the same guy who immediately became an okama after being sent away by Kuma against his will, that's your strong willed character?

That's funny cuz Sanji survived the longest without food out of all three of them :milaugh:

You can see it in the first panel you quoted btw "His captain must be something else". It's not once that Zoro's hype was directed towards what that must mean for his captain, for someone like Zoro to follow him.

And since you brought up Baratie, Luffy's and Zoro's ambitions are directly compared by Mihawk, deeming Luffy's to be superior

And Zoro himself puts Luffy's ambition above his own. That's something he did not at first, but ended up doing by TB. That's why the moment with the sacrifice has Zoro trying to take Luffy's place, and then Sanji trying to take Zoro's place for the sacrifice.

A pretty straightforward Luffy > Zoro > Sanji.

Disagree. You are making the same mistake that Uruge did. He also thought Zoro's captain must have tamed him (basically what Kaido does to his crew) with brute force or superior willpower. Zoro placing Luffy's dream over his life has nothing to do with Luffy having more willpower.

Nevertheless, Sanji owes us something extraordinary for his TB moment. He wont get CoC and wont fight King though:kayneshrug:
