Change what? In WCI people were saying Luffy was going to be "YC2" in Wano when he fought Kaido, because all the Supernovas were going to take him down together.

This wasn't a fringe theory. Most believed this. I said before he even fought Katakuri he was already right hand level.

Luffy came in to wano yc1 and has 2 huge power ups before he could do what hes doing.
Even then he got kod twice by kaido already shove top tier out the time skip up your ass.

I believe Oda intends for Luffy to leave Wano stronger than any right hand or first yonko commander but still under the Yonkos and Admirals. The next 5 years of the story will be Luffy scaling that mountain to finally be able to stand up to them by himself.

Well if Luffy surpasses Kaido in this Arc then the implications of that on the next couple years of the story and the crew power dynamic is terrible. Luffy may still get some help in fighting Kaido down the line so we don't really know what level he will achieve by the end but we can safely assume after Wano he will most likely be headed straight to the top tier level since he would have surpassed all top ranking subordinates.

I don't think he surpasses Kaido. But if he beats Kaido and Kaido gets killed/dies, then he takes his place.

I'll wait and see how it pans out. All we saw was Luffy punch Kaido a few times and bring him down for a bit, followed by a conquerors clash.

Explaining how he obtained it, Luffy's been constantly getting stronger through tough situations, which is the key to strengthen conquerors haki, the type he specializes in.

It all happening so fast is a combination of the top, and the fact Luffy actively seeks trouble unlike most Pirates who play safe, but he is also willing to work with others and learn where he could improve, aka, Rayleigh and Hyogoro.

Think about it this way for the people wanking Zoro. Jozu stopped a slash that's 60-70% as strong as Hakai dead in its tracks. He had very little bruising and didn't move an inch. BM/Kaido slashes individually are not as strong as Mihawk's slash which was stated to be "the strongest in the world".

Jozu couldn't break out of parasite. Luffy broke out. Jozu is the strongest YC physically and Luffy shat on his strengths. But people kept making excuses.

Luffy was flooring Kaido without even using King Kong Gun, King Kong Gatling, etc...

All Luffy's offence was missing was strong Haki to be Yonko level. He had always had the ridiculous strength.
