Sorry if this has been presented elsewhere before, but something kinda struck me just now...when Blackbeard shows up to Marineford with his new recruits from Impel Down, several Marines remark that the Level 6 prisoners had committed crimes so heinous, their existence was erased from the world. Sound familiar??
I think it’s plausible that Rocks wasn’t actually killed by Roger and Garp at God Valley, just defeated by the duo, scrubbed from the history books, and taken to a secluded and completely impenetrable jail to rot. We know that Teach ordered all the inmates on that level to battle to the death, but Sengoku mentioned that several others had escaped in the confusion. If Rocks was alive and well then, he may have escaped and gone somewhere to lurk...like, you know, a legend would do :smithnie:
Sengoku did recently “confirm” that Rocks was dead, but this is One Piece we’re talking about...no one is truly deceased unless we see them pass. He could have easily fed those Marines a lie so as not to further stir suspicion; the last thing the World Government needs right now is the reappearance of one of the world’s most notorious criminals when two of his former subordinates just allied with each other again.
He’d be pretty old and therefore unlikely to have much of an impact even if he did appear in the current storyline, but I think it’s an interesting possibility. Thoughts?
