This is what I am talking about. The only missing piece of the puzzle is the colouring and the non shaded versions of Luffy and Kaidou.

In the beginning of volume 98 Oda was putting a dragon Kaidou in the background who was clearly cut in parts. He scrapped the idea for multiple parts with Dragon Kaidou ,but the multiple volumes structure remained.
