Honestly, I always thought Sanji vs Queen was most likely. King clash happened but ultimately it makes sense Sanji faces the 3rd strongest in Kaido's crew. Plus the Judge connection made Queen being Sanji's opponent really likely. I have no issue with the fight though I can see why some preferred the idea of Sanji vs King.
I was rooting for Sanji vs King myself because I thought when Zoro is already fighting against Yonkou, why not let the second strongest crew member fight a YC1.
I know all evidence pushed Sanji v Queen hence I said recently that the only way Sanji v King is happening is when Oda just wants to be unpredictable again.

I wonder if i should make the same thread if Zoro fights King, when the consensus among Zoro fans like 12 chapters ago was that there's no conceivable way for Zoro to be removed from the fight with Kaido, and that the 5 SN's vs 2 Yonko on the roof is the final stage and final line-up for that fight 
Lucky for me i've been on the Sanji vs Queen hype train from day one, as well as advocating that the Roof fight is merely intermediary hype before the final match-ups get decided

marco or zoro
outside of zoro fights number 2 etc theres really no set up for zoro vs king
like there was with queen and sanji
which led to the obvious
now for zoro like i said there isnt actually any set up for king
but could obviously still happen
now to marco
king and marco have a few parallels
both introduced in a pair
they both were asked by another yonko to join yet refused
they both knocked big moms ship off the waterfall
all that without the obvious aesthetic similarities
fire flying related fruits the "yc1" etc
now for sanji oda repeated the same thing he did in enneies lobby (with the same chapter difference!)

Chapter 1005, Sanji was captured by Black Maria, Robin replaced the fight and complimented him. 10 chapters later, chapter 1015, Sanji made an appearance and saved Chopper from Queen. Then he made a speech to boost Chopper's confidence.
now as i pointed out when i responded to that post in the main thread
the role of zoro in ennies lobby is actually being held by marco
He held off King and Queen (kaku and jabra)
And kept chopper (ussop) safe long enough for sanji to come in and save chopper (ussop)
as i said the set up is for a 1 vs 1 with marco and king
so the only way i see king vs zoro is if he beats marco

Sanji didn't lose to Doffy. Even Sanji already come up with counterattack back at Doflamingo.
Sanji never lose to King. King got blocked twice by Sanji.
And when King send Sanji flying through the building, King's beak got bend.

if king 100% then RS sanji 40%
king is not even a kicker he blocked rs sanji kick like a fodder kick at mid-air while base form lol.

Is history not evident that Sanji never turns his loses into wins, and when he is used as a hype tool, he is just that?
Did Sanji get his win back against Vergo?

Those fights were there to serve a sole purpose, and that is to show that Sanji's opponent is superior to Sanji.

Sanjis matchup always is unfinished , short time matchups more than one decade. Odas preferences.
Sanji did get the special treatment in WCI, since he was the one who handled the Yonko plot line after the Tea Party while Luffy handled the Katakuri one.
Some might have an issue that he handled it with his cooking, but i don't think Oda thinks of that as him giving to Sanji anything less than premium treatment.

The former sweet commander theories were especially funny
There were points at which Sanji defeating Oden or Daifuku was a possibility, but that wouldn't have been the highlight of the arc for Sanji as much as him handling the Big Mom situation anyway. At least not for Oda, or the readers who don't really put that much stock into fights.
