Is Wano one of the worst One Piece arcs?

-Fake tension all over the place

-Offscreening literally all the Straw Hat’s fights in favor of Tama and Big Meme clownery

-Kinemon dying like three times this arc

-Shoving every power up down Luffy’s throat

-Worst Pacing issues in all of One Piece

-Having Sanji disappear for like 20 chapters having accomplished nothing

-Kaido being one of the most boring villains in the series

So now that I pointed out all these issues, do you all agree that Wano is one of the worst arcs?

I can’t believe I’m saying this but Wano actually makes WCI look like it was written by Shakespeare himself. Wano suffers from all the issues people complained about with Dressrosa, only it lacks the charismatic antagonists in Fujitora and Doflamingo to carry the arc.

Wano is absolutely, 100% bloated with meaningless characters. The Scrubbards are lame af, sunk in the popularity polls because they have few individual characteristics and merely serve as a chorus of Loden shills. The minor antagonists like Holdem and Urashima are lame beyond measure and the so-called major antagonists (can anyone tell me anything about King’s personality? Anything at all?) get pushed to the side.

The Oden flashback sucked donkey dick, created inconsistencies with things Marco was saying and with Whitebeard’s character. Toki is the blandest character in the series, which is truly an accomplishment for a Void Century time traveler. Momonosuke, arguably one of the most important characters of the arc, ranked 180th in the popularity poll. That’s how much the characters of this arc have flopped.

Kinemon only died once. The fights aren't offscreen. We will see them. Kaido is great

My thoughts exactly. I remember back in the WCI days people would defend one piece saying “Just wait until the Wano arc, it’s gonna be amazing!”, but it turns out Wano is actually far worse than WCI lmfao

Kinemon got “killed” with the rest of the scabbards, he got “killed” when he got hit in the head by Kaido, and he also got “killed” when he got stabbed by Kaido. That’s three fake deaths in a row lol.

Also, how exactly are the fights not being offscreened? We haven’t seen any of them for like 20 chapters lol.

Sorry. He meant Kanjuro died 3 times. Orochi fake died 8 times. Hyuogoro fake died. Nami Carrot fake captured. Kiku showed incompetence levels far exceeding anyone this arc. And why is an 8 year old leading the spirits of samurai in a war?

It's baffling. Baffling how Oda manages to turn Toki into the most boring character, given the immense weight this story has placed onto the Void Century, Ancient Nation, and above all Time Travel in itself. The Scabbards are the victims of a Ponzi Scheme gone wrong by Oden. Instead of Oden paying for his countries sins, he throws those burdens onto his Retainers. Kinemon neither has Conqueror's nor is an adequate leader, but has to carry the burdens of his foolish Lord as well as the other Scabbards.

:lawsigh: I can't anymore.

I didn't even get into the problems with Big Meme, Nami, Tama, and Luffy himself.

I never thought I would say this but Wano is far worse than both of those arcs. Atleast those arcs were at the very least entertaining (maybe not the Davy Back fight) but Wano is so boring. There’s wayyy too many uninteresting and boring characters here
Wano has many flaws that I don’t care to defend, but I’m personally enjoying it far more than either of the ones I mentioned :kayneshrug:

Wtf are you talking about. Getting hit isn't dying, Kinemon was literally talking to Luffy on the floor. Nobody taught he was dead. Kaodo hits people with his club all the time.

This is a massive war, when the fights are ready to be shown they will. Same like enies lobby we was getting glimpse of fights until its their turn.

Wano does have problems though like Otama BS

*squints in Davy Back Fight and WCI*
Aside from the truly, magnificent Zoro feats, who by the way is Carrying this Arc on his Back; I'm starting to respect Sanji's dilemma's in WCI and those "stakes" much more than whatever Joe Samurai's problems are in Wano. I'm actually rooting for Orochi and Kaido. Lets kill off as much Samurai and Alliance as possible so I don't have to see their useless ass faces in the Epilogue of this arc.

In fact, this arc has made me understand what the Sanji fanbase has been going through with his character.
Oda has fucked up his character as much as he has extracted all the nostalgia, joy, and fun One Piece has carried in the Pre-Time Skip all the way into the Post Marineford ASL flashback. We get a sliver of it in Zou, but I hate that arc now because of how atrocious and bland cArRoT is.

Everything terrible in those arcs, Wano does worse
I guess I’m willing to overlook those obvious flaws because we’re getting a surprising amount of lore and info dumps around all the bullshit, it’s worth watching “Marineford 2.0” do a belly flop to see bits of Roger’s journey and receive more substantial hints about the central mysteries of the story than we’ve gotten previously.

Also, a lot of how we feel about this arc is probably contingent on whether or not we like Yamato, I see that the noteworthy haters in this thread all agree the arc sucks overall and I don’t believe that’s a coincidence :wellwell:

I mean, this arc has the potential to be unique hype wise for me at least, if only ZKK will come to fruition. Or even ZDK.

The landscapes are gorgeous, the historical references and accuracy are grandious. Too many side characters yes.. too much PIS, but this is far from the first time it occurs and to such extensive degree.

WCI is the arc I despised the most, at least for what it concerns the New World.

Yamato is good in design, possible cool devil fruit ability, Yonko's daughter, and possible CoC.
I just loathe the disrespectful, "can't read the atmosphere", Autistic Oden Charade she has going on.
If she could've cosplayed anyone, literally anyone else, besides oden, I would not bat an eye.

But Oda just haaad to bring back that stupid fuck of a Character back into the story within another form.

You know that bothers me as well, man…I think a lot of Yamato fans would love to see her drop that shtick since it has definitely gotten old very fast, and I’m hoping that we’re seeing her establish herself against her father at long last :neesama:
