See, that seems like much more outlandish speculation to me than Luffy having something in common with Joy Boy…Oda’s been pretty gung ho about not including the main character’s mother in the story, and while I would see her inclusion as a much bigger twist than he’s provided as of late, for her to come out of nowhere would make this arc feel even more bloated AND take more focus away from the important things we’re already getting offpaneled.

It's quite possible it's the Yami Yami no Mi that is the most sought after, which the World Government, Teach and Shanks etc were all looking for. Since the Gomu Gomu no Mi looked similar, Shanks took it thinking it was the Yami Yami no Mi.

I like this better than the Gomu Gomu no Mi being itself special.

The Yami Yami no mi looks like a pine apple all spikey, while the gum gum fruit is round like an apple. But they do both share the same purple colour though. Also the leaker said refer to chapter one, the Yami Yami no mi wasn't revealed in Chapter 1.
