Eh, Luffy's personality is fine. He's supposed to be the dumb but fun protagonist. The problem is the battle system. Oda used to be much more creative with Luffy's battles. Like Luffy vs Crocodile or Luffy vs Enel were just pure awesome because Luffy had to work to get those battles won. Now most battles are just use some combo of gear 2/3/4 + haki until he wins. So yeah, the one thing I would fix is to inject a little more creativity into Luffy's battles. Luffy vs Cracker was a step in the right direction with the teamwork element; more of that please.

I guess it's not so much Luffy that is the problem but the fact the other sh's dont get to do shit while Luffy keeps collecting W... i mean yeah he sometimes is used by Oda to job but in the end he more than makes up for it later.

While post skip name me some epic "fuck yeah" moments from other sh's? We are hundreds of chapters in post skip and one of Luffy's main fighters didn't even have a real fight yet and the other is basically used for fodder cleanup duty and didn't even use his PRE fuckin SKIP power up lol

And it isn't even about fights but moments overall... We just lack impact from our fav peeps

Also i by far like Luffy most when he is with his crew and interacts with his nakama but post skip Oda keeps seperating them all the time still and has Luffy interact mostly with new arc characters which for the most part none of us give a fuck about

I’m not sure if I’m too late here, but allow me to be one of the few to make the case for one of the most incredible characters Oda has ever drawn:

Luffy? Trash.

Zoro? Great, but he’s had his fair share of ups and downs.

Mihawk? Cool, but he hasn’t really done much. He’s kinda just waiting for EOS so someone can entertain him.

Whitebeard? He’s pretty much the only character who Oda hyped to oblivion and then actually delivered on that hype instead of being treated like discount Alvida.

Not only that, instead of being a one dimensional strength machine, Whitebeard showed the heart of a father and all of our hearts throb in his interactions with his sons, so much so that he made into the top 4.

Don’t let the legend of his era die. Vote Whitebeard. Lol
Wrong thread:super:

I really like Luffy's personality, I've always liked optimistic, happy-go lucky, chaotic good type of characters. Nonetheless, we aren't in East Blue anymore, Luffy has been through so much since the series started that I think he needs to show a bit more maturity. Oda is overplaying the "Luffy is stupid but nice" characteristic, I want to see him grow up and change. He doesn't have to suddenly become serious but I would like him to be more than just "lemme go punch Kaido right now and ignore all of the plans". It gets tiring and becomes one-dimensional.
