luffy said that sanji sacrificing his life for zeff is a stupid and weak idea because it defeats the purpose of why zeff saved him in the first place, sanji was no different than the pleasures that would sacrifice their lives for chopper because he saved them.
he's calling the crew idiots just because they have ambitions, that zoro had to correct him and luffy and usopp agreed with zoro.
he's telling zoro to abandon his ambition if it means losing his life, but he got convinced otherwise by zeff commenting on luffy's fight vs don creig.
telling luffy to hide from arlong, that luffy had to loudly disagree with him, and it turned out that luffy standing his ground worked perfectly at the end.

sanji is a good cook and a strong fighter but his personality that of a fodder.

Luffy said its stupid to die for some one you love and respect , same way he tried to die for ace by going to marine Ford. Same way ace died for him . The funny thing is luffy learnt the had way through aces death. Death is not sumn you chose, but there are times when there is no other option than death. Sanjis only problem has being relying on others. Yes he was a traumatised kid who had no-one he could turn to that is why it is hard for him to rely on others . For the first time he did that with Robin. Sanji never mocked them bcos of their ambitions, he called them idiots for jumping head on into death or having " a death wish ".yes he told zoro to abandon his dream if it would mean death, the same sanji that was willing to die for zeff to be free. See sanji values family and friends over ambitions. He would gladly die for a sh but not an ambition which he can live and fulfil later coz when you die for you ambitions you achieved nun . Roger is the best example pk but could not achieve what he wanted cos he gave himself up for death. Zoro and luffy have learnt not to die for their ambitions but to live and see it through. That is why zoro has being able to improve his endurance . Cos he now has a strong mentality. Same with luffy . Sanji basically said the same thing mihawk said but using different words .yet cos mihawks sounded more mature than sanji yall try to fucking take sanjis outta context. Mihawk told zoro not to rush and spared his life. Sanji told him to not rush and not face mihawk now cos he was physically weak. Basically same thjng different wording .
sanji wanted to die for the wrong reason, in his eyes he was repaying a debt and out of gratitude, it's stupid and weak, he shouldn't repay zeff by killing himself but rather by pursuing/achieving his dream.
luffy and whitebeard's crew sacrificed themselves to save ace, to save the life of a brother/son/nakama, there's nothing wrong with that, that's not repaying any debt, they're not doing it out of gratitude or for it.
jinbe is like jinbei he also wanted to save aces out of gratitude for whitebeard protecting fishmen island.
now, if sanji wanted to save baratie out of love or kindness, that's totally fine, that's how luffy gets motivated to save people, they give him food, he likes them, and he helps them, it's not to return their favor.
relying on others was never a problem for sanji, WCI is special because sanji didn't want his personal past to cause trouble for his crew, also his sacrifice was meaningful because it was out of kindness, he saved his abusive siblings even though he doesn't owe them anything, that was badass ngl.
