For me it sound like more that she don´t want that anyone getting the PN to reach the Raftel as Roger did and she don´t screw up again as against Roger. In my opinion this isn´t much clear, but seeing how Oda build up Roger character, I can´t imagine he making off such move without fighting off Big mom. Luffy must do the way because he didn´t come back to Totland and also he must save Sanji, for Rogers case he don´t fear Whitebeard. So he fighting off Big mom while Oden copie the Red PN is still a possibly.

One thing was made very clear last chapter and that is that Roger doesn't tolerate harm to civilians. May be he has similar code for children and there is a good possibility that a large number of Charlotte's were children back then. May be BM herself was pregnant.
If that's the case, then it makes sense that Roger would avoid fighting children and pregnant woman and sneak into the Poneglyph. It doesn't change Roger's portrayal.

Well do you remember Mont D'or's line at the end of WCI "Not even Gol D Roger can escape" when referring to the ambush waiting for Luffy at Cacao island from the mirror world.
Like that line is very stupid given the fact that Roger would take out like 2/3 of all the guys there with just Conquerers and then one shot everyone else.... Like the strongest guy in that ambush was fuckin Oven of all people.... I think the reason a clever guy like Mont D'or said something so dumb is because he's never fought Roger or seen how strong Roger is. He's just assuming shit.... Like I highly doubt Totland would exist at all if there actually was a full scale fight between the Roger pirates and Big mom pirates there... Like WCI itself would definitely not have been standing if there was a marineford type battle there and even the other 38 islands would probably have been destroyed not to mention NONE of Big mom's children are dead so there's no way an actual fight happened and Big mom lost and yet none of her children died.
It seems way more likely that Roger just stealthed and took her shit and left... its highly doubtful Big mom's empire would exist as it does now if she had actually gone to war with Roger

Look I don't follow his tweets but others posted his tweet/comment on few chapters after 957 and it didn't pan out, in fact, when the spoiler came out, it had no relation with his comments/tweets.
