Completely relatable, Japanese is BRUTAL. Hiragana and Katana seem straightfoward enough but then the "KANJI NATION ATTACKED!" And there's the writing right to left and vertically, the grammar and such but it still pales in complexity, sheer numbers of characters to learn and difficulty to Mandarin though? Mandarin definitely takes a lifetime to learn from what I've heard! Literally thousands of characters to learn!

I tried to study Japanese twice and it just broke me lol, the Kanji alone was too much! Up to 24 strokes to write a single Kanji? Fuck that!

The biggest barrier is that Kanji-memorization stage.

Learning Hiragana/Katakana was OK. I used to stay up in bed reading Pokemon names on my phone for practice. :milaugh:

But the Kanji... Worst part is that they're pronounced differently depending on the context.
