The ONLY thing that I find bad about this chapter, is how ATROCIOUS Oda's sense of pacing is.
We were on the CLIMAX of the arc, the final battles were finally getting started for real, and then he decides to go for another "side quest" to showcase a backstory.
Imagine if Robin's backstory happened not before they jump to the Tower of Justice, culminating with that amazing "I WANT TO LIVE" segment, but instead happened after the "Hunter" moment when interrupted the M3 fights.
This back and forth with different pacing is really bad.
It works in books like A Song of Ice and Fire because they were written precisely for this kind of shenanigan to work there, but here it just feels shitty. Chapters that otherwise would be ok or cool, end up getting A LOT of hate just because they come and interrupt far more exciting stuff that were going down, for no reason at all. I never liked these "middle of fight backstories" and the way that Oda cuts the rhythm of the narrative with them.

To me it was very obvious that we wouldnt keep up with the fights right now, the real match up will start when Momo arrives with Luffy and the real final battle begins, so this is the best moment to have Yamato's flashback since she will get rescued soon

it is. if kubo was writing wano it would be just as long but it would just be people standing in a room revealing theyre actually super double hollow ghosts and had secret powers the whole time they never revealed and then usopp and nami would get killed off for no reason

You say this like it hasn’t been a strong through line for the entire series…Luffy doesn’t know anything about his father, Usopp’s left him to dick around with a Yonko, Sanji’s is a colossal prick by any definition, and we know nothing about any other protagonist’s papa. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again - Capone Pez is literally the only character in One Piece that WON’T have daddy issues when they grow up

My boy holding on to that panel with his life idk why yall so hype over that feat every single strawhat has done something to big mom. And sanji blocked a healthy big mom with luffy back in whole cake. And that jinbei feat means absolutely nothing if sanji is going to be fighting stronger opponents then jinbei from now on lol.
