Kid Yamato is adorable. It's kinda cathartic to see them go from a tortured child-to now ably fighting with Kaido.
Kaido expected the 3 Samurai to crack and kill each other for the last morsel of food they can expect, but they instead give it to the growing Yamato. Very noble and what I expect from Samurai. The guy we can safely assume to be Ushimaru, seems very dejected, though. Going as far as relinquishing his name upon defeat. This isn't a behavior we've seen from other Samurai thus far. It might even go to explain how Zoro isn't a Shimotsuki by name, but that might be too early to say. But considering the name of the chapter is in reference to that very moment, it's going to be an important plot point later on.
Speaking of Zoro, Ushimaru is basically 40 year old Zoro, as Oda drew him.
Back to Yamato, the Samurai were reinvigorated after reading Oden's journal, and Yamato learned to read thanks to them. The Samurai don't expect to survive the next 20 years, but Yamato still can. They've adopted the Samurai's wills, and they've helped foster Yamato' desire to protect Wano.
