General & Others Koby is only a Marine Captain (Volume 95 correction)

Plot will not back him up.
I don’t see why not. There would be no point of hyping up Koby going against Hancock if he was just going to get stomped. My guess is that Koby will win through the use of Vegapunks new weapons as well as his own strength. I think that Hancock would beat him in single combat, but that he’ll play it smart. If I had to guess, Hancock is around Sanji or Jinbei’s level. Koby is probably at least around as strong as Franky or somewhere between Franky and Sanji/Jinbei.

He doesn’t have to be. It seems that this is where the story is heading and what Oda said at Jump Festa only buttresses my point.

what the mc will achieve none else will achieve.
and even so, akainu would not trust coby can do it to send only him.

and crocodile vs luffy is one of the most controversial wins people still complain about 20 years later.

It’s heavily implied that Koby was sent after Hancock himself.

Agreed. It would be absurd for Koby to win with his low rank. It would be like someone with a 30 million berri bounty defeating a warlord with a frozen 81 million berri bounty. Wait...
Hancock: Mero mero mero....
Koby: ???
Hancock/Sandersonia/Marigold: ?
Hancock: Impossible, why is he not affected by my beauty!
Koby: Because Alvida is the most beautiful woman on earth!
Lol

It isn't implied at all. He's part of the fleet, that's it.
You all are massively overestimating Coby. Dude is still an absolute nobody compared to higher tiers or even top tiers. You really think Akainu would send a lowly marine captain to headline their fleet in order to attack an entire nation and capture a former warlord?

Totally agreed. I think Oda will make Akainu send Greenbull and Fuji to Boa and Mihawk honestly.

I believe what's best for the story is to leave Fuji to Mihawk, while put Greenbull to Boa.

Reasons:
1- Fuji with Boa is so bad match up for Boa, he's blind, probably unaffected to her powers, so on top of being a monster admiral, he's unaffected.

2- Fuji achieved his goal in the story, we know so much about his sense of justice, his powers, and he's a swordsman, making him the perfect opponent to fall by Mihawk, before Mihawk falls by Zoro or someone else.

3- Greenbull seems to have a soft side to beautiful women, making him a better match for Boa. This way, Boa can put more resistance and allowing her to put a decent fight before Greenbull captures her (cause her capture is a sure thing in my book, her slave backstory with CD must be revisted) for Luffy to save her and pay her back as he owes her great deal, the same way he did with Jinbie

True lol, specially since Akainu probably hates Koby's guts

Honestly, when I saw the "rear admiral" I was surprised purely because of Akainu
I believe Koby at EoS will be on the level of Admiral in strength, but he will only be promoted to be one after Akainu is down!

I think Oda will even highlight it that Akainu is trying to hold him down, and the farthest Koby will reach in ranks is Vice Admiral, because Akainu will not be able to supress his fame and strength among the navy to stay in captain ranks or rear admiral ranks

But generally, only after Akainu is eliminated from story, which is final war, I can see the new leader promoting Koby to be An admiral, which again makes me say "after final war is finished"

I would take literally any bet that Koby will be far away from admiral level, when the series ends.

At the very best he will be a vice admiral like Maynard.

Many people forget that the end of the series is near. Koby has managed to become a captain in two years. However, the end of the series is basically a few months away (in-manga time) and the step from captain to admiral is 1000 times steeper than the step from chief petty officer to captain, which already took more than two years for Koby.

People have to get this: Koby is no mirror image of Luffy (talent-wise) and he isn't a rival/enemy of Luffy.

He is the definition of a "normal guy". He isn't overly strong or talented, but he achieves everything through work, work and even more work. That means he will probably achieve his dream of becoming an admiral sometime (!) in the distant future, but not when the series ends. That would be way too fast.

This is even emphasized by his famous lines back on Water7:
In the first part of his announcement he claims that he will be a lot stronger when he meets Luffy & Co. the next time (fair prognosis that happened to turn into reality).
Then he stops and stutters a bit, following it up with the second part of his announcement: "A-a-and someday in the future ... I want to become an a-admiral!"
Key part is "someday in the future". It's a pretty easy message: He will continue to get stronger and stronger, but his ultimate goal is still far down the future, which his current rank also emphasizes.

:finally:

Koby is not meant to be an exact parallel to Luffy, but the first person who was inspired by him to ascend to whatever new heights are reasonably within reach. Being rescued by Luffy was simply the impetus for Koby to follow his dreams, not to explicitly become the future Pirate King’s rival and challenge him in terms of strength...he WILL be an admiral SOMEDAY, that doesn’t automatically mean EoS. I could also see him as a VA when the story ends, maybe with a winking remark about him being fast tracked for admiral status down the line.

Whatever he ends up being or doing, it’ll have less to do with Luffy and more to do with achieving his goals for himself thanks to Luffy’s encouragement. Not sure why this concept is so hard for some fans to grasp.

Fujitora îs there too.
There’s no evidence of that. That’s speculation.

You’re assuming that he’s a regular Captain in terms of strength. He almost certainly isn’t. The Captains that the worn out Strawhats fought off at Ernie’s Lobby wouldn’t stand a chance against him from what we’ve seen and heard. The guys been sailing in the New World in command of his own ship. He wasn’t working underneath a Vice Admiral like Tashigi. It seems very unlikely that he’s weaker than someone like Maynard to me. Most likely, Koby is somewhere between Sanji and Franky in strength. Hancock would probably beat him in a 1v1, but he’ll use Vegapunks new weapons to pull out a W. he’s clearly far stronger than the average Captain.

Let's scale Coby to Smoker, who is one of the strongest Vice Admirals. Let's see how Smoker would fare against Warlords:

Against Boa

Against Law

Against Doffy

Come again? You must be on some special drug to think Coby has enough power to take down any of the 1/3 Great Powers. He can have Buggy though.

1) That first one was Smoker before the Timeskip.

2) Do you have evidence that Smoker is one of the strongest Vice Admirals?

Who gives a fuck? Vergo did the same. Boa is >>> Vergo.

Read what Smoker said about Boa's Haki

Doflamingo literally one shot Smoker lmfao. Do you think he's one shotting Boa? Coby is nowhere near this planet of fighters. I'm being extremely generous by putting Coby = Smoker, because he's not even that.
