Honestly the focus on Yamato fight is unecessary if she's not the one who will defeat Kaido.

Is that what makes a fight necessary? She is the one humanizing thing about Kaido, and her relationship with her father is an even bigger part of her character than her love for Oden I would argue. This fight is very important for both of them
