This is also a manga where characters will literally jump multiple tiers in power just from wanting it badly enough.
Luffy went from getting completely demolished by Rob Lucci one day, to completely destroying him the day after, and Luffy literally achieved this massive power jump via a brainstorming session. The one time Luffy actually used his brain pre timeskip and he jumped several tiers in power lol. No wonder Oda writes Luffy as being dumb as shit quite frankly.
Zoro is similar, no idea who’s ass hole he pulled Asura from but he didn’t get that shit from training.
Haki blooms also only occur when Luffy mindlessly jumps headfirst into a situation that would get any other character in One Piece killed or humiliated, but Luffy succeeds because he came from Godsperm. Kid mindlessly charges headfirst into Yonko territory? Gets bitchslapped and humiliated. Luffy does the same thing? “Fifth Emperor!!” Kid and Luffy both get bitchslapped by Kaido? Kid stagnates while Luffy jumps up multiple tiers in strength.
Zoro isn’t as bad as Pirate Christ but we always knew this bitch was related to Ryuma, because god forbid anybody ever surpass their genetic barriers in One Piece lol. We can’t have the greatest swordsman in the world be that way because he works really hard and has the proper mentality, we’ve got to have him related to a previous sword god while having a similar character (Kuina) give up on life as soon as she realizes she wasn’t born correctly lol. Even Mihawk has the same eyes as Imu, so he looks like another genetic godchild and not just a hard worker with the proper motivations and mentalities.
We’ve known it for years Shishio, training means nothing in One Piece. Why do you think people like Rayleigh can still match Admirals in combat when he hasn’t touched his swords in 20 years? Genetics lol.
Nobody in One Piece will ever achieve anything that they weren’t literally born to achieve and Zoro and momo are no exception.

if he meant KO he wouldn't say "at least" I couldn't knock you down at least .
He wanted to give others opportuniy to finish or attack kaido who will be in a vulnerable state.
Only 3 people had Kaido on such condition :
Oden with Togen Totsuka
Ryuo G4 luffy with Kong gatling
Retainers with Togen Totsuka
Where kaido is on the floor out cold.
BM was hella shocked and thought Kaido was done when G4 pummeled Kaido down.
Zoro left a scar but lacked the power to put kaido our cold on the floor

On a more serious note, he might as well pull up with that power based G4 form if it exists. That’s his best bet. Contrary to popular belief elsewhere, Zoro is needed more than ever right now.
