Current Events Why has Hybrid been so ass in this arc?

#22
Half half tbh. On one hand their physical strength increase is barely noticeable at times- Drake or WsW.
But on the other hand and far in contrary to that, Oda did very well on their Dino durability. They are all super tanky, while some of them, specially Sasaki and P1 seemingly gained some incredible physical power.

I think those hybrids are overall still portrayed as plenty powerful, but they can only look so good in an arc where stuff like Fulgora, a haki clouded Hiryu Kaen and advCoC attacks are getting thrown around.
Even stuff like Kid blocking BM is just "okay" now.

Base Kaido still takes rather serious damage from internal destro CoA and hakified blades, whereas Hybrid Kaido couldn't care less.
Hybrid Jack still beats guys like base Inu, Neko and Ashura Douji, even though they have a shot at his non hybrid ass.

I Can feel the frustration though, also had much higher expectations.

Hybrid Kaido fucked up the SNs, and Hybrid Jack almost knocked non sulong Inu out.
That said hybrid isn't a straight upgrade over full animal form, it is a hybrid of the animal and human aspects, if you are a martial artist like Kaido or a sword user like King/Queen/Jack then being able to use your sword is useful, at the expense of the full raw strength/durability in full animal mode.
Hybrid is better in most but not all circumstances, like g2 is more practical than g3 in most circumstances except where brute strength is required.
Jack almost beat sulong inu??? When??? Lol you mean base inu???

I'll agree with you with regards to the F6 (besides Who's Who, his was pretty cool) and especially with Kaido's Hybrid (come on Oda give us awakened Kaido, something!), and let's not even talk about Jack's :catcry:

However, I would say it is too early to call the Hybrids a complete flop this arc.

King & Queen both have immense potential to make up for the otherwise lackluster Hybrid showcases.

This is because both King & Queen, unlike the other Hybrids for the most part, have entirely different skillsets & abilities that they have that will allow them to synergize with their Hybrid forms quite well

Queen for example not only gets the physical strength & endurance benefits of his Mythical Zoan, (as well as his legs being a bit better compared to Base where they are tiny), Hybrid Queen also has...
- Braid claw + palm-cannon/barrel
- Tail claw + palm-cannon/barrel
- Semi-Brachio neck
All 3 of which he can fire lasers from and might even be able to fire various poisons and other biological weaponry from.

His tail especially with it's claw may be able to act as a third arm with how large it is.

Oda may even give Queen the ability to use his right arm's cannon to fire lasers strong enough for him to jump around with.:queenhear:

He could even give Queen hidden guns in his fingers ->> (just replace normie regular bullets with Laser beams or poison bullets)

Given Queen's versatile nature being a cyborg, chemical engineer & overall physical monster, there is much that Oda can do with him with his Hybrid rather than simply having his Hybrid be a stat-blender like the other Ancient Zoans.

King's Hybrid we have yet to see, however some assumptions can be made regarding his Hybrid

Along with having his already strong & tall body, King might have

- Pterodactyl feet-claws that might allow him to parry with sword-users, as well as piercing-kicks
- Pterodactyl hand-claws that could allow him to parry with sword-users, as well as inflict piercing-punches
- Flaps under his arms whilst retaining his base-form wings, further excelling his flight capabilities
- Semi-Pterodactyl beak that once again, may allow him to parry swords if his head is swung at, may also allow him to do mini Divebombs for pierce damage. He might even be able to breathe fire with his beak!

And of course King has the ability to conjure fire which can be used to enhance all his attacks.

So yes, I would agree that the F6 and Kaido's Hybrids and especially Jack have been lackluster, I would have some hope for King & Queen.

There is alot that Oda can do with these 2 Calamities :zehaha:

First of all
Hybrid can never have better durability and physical strength than zoan form

That's why Injection shot and gk works better on Hybrid/base than dragon kaido

I believe this is the result of a bad combination of factors: a misinterpretation of what the hybrid form gives the user + high expectations about the look and moveset of Zoan users.

But people should have noticed that with Kaido, but they kept pushing arguments like "Queen Hybrid must be a destructive monstrosity" or "Jack Hybrid will step on Inu".

Because Zoans are pretty much straight forward fruits with no special ability beside making said person stronger/faster/tankier.

When said person lack any fighting ability and become a mere brute Aka Jack. It shows he just a big tank who lack named moves or a skillset with his swords. While also not creative enough to use his tusk as a weapon.

The game changer is when a zoan is a mythical zoan where said fruit grants special abilities like regeneration, shockwaves, and weather abilities.

So imho mystical hybrid zoans are amazing, while regular zoans are lackluster when use with a person who isn't creative or lack a fighting style.

One word

Lolda.

Sanji only standing there like an idiot and doesn't even bother to use the booster to block Page's swing.
>Says Sanji standing like an idiot

>Reality: RS Sanji guarding P1 with his leg before getting tossed.

You’re better than this cmon:whitepress:

Page One overpowered Sanji is as much as Luffy overpowered Garp in strength
Yes because Sanji loves P1 like his own grandson and could not bear to hurt him :whitepress:

This is how you guard against someone with your leg without getting tossed aside

:goyea:
