They do care but one of my professor once said "It's fine if you cheat as long as you don't get caught".

Not only I have cheated in exams, I also appeared on behalf of my friends in their exams so that they can pass (of course this service was not free).

It's just like mafia - be a scum, kill people but don't get caught and you will win.

Once I had a prof catch me cheating and he just talking about random stuff to me and didn't do anything and left me to cheat until the end.

It was hilarous

Ofc my heart was racing all the time while he was talking to me.

I laugh now but at the time almost got an heart attack.
