The King hypetrain continues!
1) King eats Shi Shishi Sonson which is Zoro's go-to attack for when he has stuff he struggles to cut. It was the finisher against Mr1 after he got BOAT and it was the technique he wanted to use to break Kaku's tekkai.
And yet it also doesn't work! No blood, and King was in his base form, which confirms that it is not about his zoan wings, his ability can work in human form as well. And clearly the reason Marco's knee and Zoro's Onigiri drew blood was because it wasn't active in those cases.
Also, it does seem that King does something with his fire following the attacks, which Zoro notices as well. Cauterizing the wound? Regenerating through fire? We shall see.
2) For the first time Zoan King was missing his flame! Art mistake or maybe a hint that he just used the fire to survive SSS and needed some time to recharge? Remains to be seen.
3) Once again no flames for hybrid King. And this is probably not an art mistake since Oda literally never depicted hybrid King with flames in over 10 different panels. Could it be that his lunarian powers don't work in hybrid? On top of the missing flames we've never seen him using fire attacks in hybrid. Seems weird since it works both in human and in zoan form... But something is clearly going on here.
4) The explosion stuff. 100% connected to his lunarian powers. Zoro said King blew himself up, and yet he was clean at the end. Nice.

Nice. I think we're all in agreement here that King's secret resides on the flames on his back. It's reasonable to think now if it were to be snuffed out, King's lifeline would be lost.
If our opinion is correct, this explains why Kaido took King with him to the Marineford. Of everybody present in MF, only Aokiji would be able to snuff out the flames. And, among the Shichibukais, maybe only Mihawk, since I doubt Zoro can slice off intangible things but Mihawk could not. Kizaru's lasers isn't going to snuff out his flames and Akainu's magma would just make the flames bigger. We don't have any indication that Garp and Sengoku know how to cut flames. In theory, he could virtually no sell almost every attack and would have greatly bolstered Kaido's campaign (had it not been for Shanks, who could likely cut flames, too).
And you're all correct that it's good timing that Zoro recently learnt how to cut fire. This makes it clear why King was able to easily defeat Cook and Marco together, because they could neither snuff out nor damage his flames. So he was able to easily no sell everything they threw at him and responded brutally. I don't know what is up with Enma and the Shamisen, but after Zoro gets his shit together, he should try Homurasaki on King. :cheers:

I feel that all the Zoro downplayers who claimed Zoro is below YC1 level because he can't hurt King ejaculated prematurely (as usual). They attributed the whole thing to Zoro supposedly being weak instead of King having a cheat defense code.
