Be honest I like the reason behind the panels, Oda make it clear that Zoro and Luffy gonna have their battle against Kaido and not other one here.

And the two new panels with Luffy use advanced CoA confirmed it again.
You can´t use advanced CoA if your hardening and control isn´t strong enough, Advanced CoA and black hardening aren´t seperate, advanced CoA is just a next lvl of black hardening.

And they were saying that Mihawk is Vista level and zoro won't cut Kaido

Oda is clearly hyping Zoro and Luffy here to take on Kaido and indirectly hyping Mihawk with Ryu.
