Kaido admitting he'd have been overwhelmed by Wano's forces 5years ago actually goes against the narrative he grew stronger. He was referring to military might
And if 5years ago Kaido was only trying to avoid getting overwhelmed in military, yet 5years later, Oden could individually match if not dominate him, giving him a permanent scar and Kaido needing a distraction from Grandma using Momonosuke's appearance to disturb Oden, to win, it just further shows that 5years prior, Kaido had no chance to win with Hyogoro/Wano's military force
And we know the current scabbards were mentioned to have grown stronger, so just imagine if Oden and the scabbards actually trained during those 5years instead of dancing
It'd have been a massacre in Wano's favor

I think Oda is in purposing shitting on BM/Kaido so Shanks can look good to be honest.

I understand that this is a pirate fight. 1 vs 1 being honored is not to be guaranteed. But among all the 4 Yonko. The person who I'd be LEAST expecting this move from... It's Kaido. The guy wants to commit suicide??? He's searcing for WB??? He is testing Luffy during the fight???? Hello??? Where is that proud warrior???
In comparison, Big Mom herself, when Luffy attacked Mother caramel Pic, and Katakuri attacked Luffy. Big Mom response was "how dare you intervene? do you think I need protection?" That's what big Mom told Katakuri.
What most of us expected from kaido is not to be honroable of course cause he's a villain. But at least we expected him to be "Warrior" who is eager to any fight, eager to have his 1 vs 1. Someone like Kenpachi from Bleach who would slaughter you before intervening in his fight and steal his prey.
But this???
That's what orochi and BB would do man. It made kaido's stock sink for me. Sure, that makes him more dangerous as villain. But we got plenty of those type of villains from Shicibukai. Yonko are supposed to be different league in that they back up their words and do it themselves..
But it seems it will honestly end up as:
Luffy vs Kaido
1 vs 1
No question about it for me at this point. After this flashback? I find it hard to believe what some people suggested about so many supernova ganging up on him
Cause from what it seems. Oden was destroying Kaido perfectly fine with simple "Haki"
So, advanced Haki with Luffy would fuck Kaido up. And it's the solution Oda provided and it will be the solution here.
