I don't dislike Oden, but it's simple.
Even if you force the " Sole swordsman" narrative, it doesn't save Oden.
Oden is a swordsman by heart, who follows the way of the sword, and there's nothing in his entire arsenal that doesn't involve swordsmanship.
It's a fact that Oden was never skilled enough to "create" a Black blade, that's a death sentence to anyone that tries to put him above Mihawk.
Quite frankly speaking, you CAN'T even put Oden above Mihawk, that's not possible.

Just that the battle would have be tougher since they were lacking in manpower

When Sengoku says Kaido grew a lot stronger since 38 years ago, you think Kaido stop growing 20 years ago ?
Oda is drunk to have Kaido who didnt lose his will to be stagnated , pre Yonko kaido = Yonko Kaido or pre Yonko kaido =< Yonko Kaido
Maybe you guys should go learn about chatacter growth progression.
Kaido and Oden are both admiral level in this battle.

Oden also traveled with strongest people in the world
Oden also is a super human with super endurance and super strength and super healing power
and his feats are MUCH better than what ever Mihawk should us
Mihawk is only better than him in one term of power and as Oda said himself being better (having advantage) in one term of power can't put you over another person for sure

The Numbers would fit in with the Beasts Pirates' missing link (King, Queen, Jack, "10", "9", etc.). The Headliners look like allied pirate captains (like Luffy's Grand Fleet).

There's no evidence he did try nor cared. If he wanted to be Pirate King, then you'd think he'd have a crew, but he's a lone wolf who's only concerns center around swordsmanship.
