Oden is Oda's self inserted character!
A character meant to be the trigger and the key for many plots.

There's no pirate alive or dead stronger than Oden except Rocks Pirates + Roger. In fact, only Xebec, Kaido, Roger & WB have a true case to be > Prime Oden.

He's basically a cheat code who's arguably the strongest Man next to Kaido for MidGen if you study his wank :
  • Samurai version of Roger & Luffy : VoAT + CoC
  • Can read RPs
  • Freak of nature like Linlin
  • Could tame Enma as a kid when Zoro despite Mihawk teachings, 2 weeks training in Wano and Ryuo still struggled to tame Enma until recently.
  • Rivaled future WSC, Kaido just like Roger rivaled WSM, Newgate & Luffy rivaling future WS, Teach
  • Among the few capable of fighting Kaido
  • Has Yonko level main squad
  • "Pirate King of MidGen" as he went to Raftel
  • Survived an hour of hot oil boiling
  • Scarred Kaido
  • And more Wanks to come from Oda
This is a reminder to accept Oden's wank cause Oda isn't ending it now or ever.
We will get more wanks about him when we see Shanks & even Teach . Also Raftel arc

How does Oda makes a charismatic character?
By making everyone love said character for no reason at all.
Fucking exaggerate everything the character does no matter how it breaks your "power scaling" later.
And then, like the stubborn proud author that Oda is, simply wank the character more and more if people don't like him.
Insert the character in every fucking moment until the end of the story so people have no choice but to deal with said character.
Oda rushes everything he does.
You know why the story feels dragged sometimes even if he rushes everything?
Just think it like this.
Instead of having Whiskey Peak+Little Garden+Drum Island+Alabasta, we have all of these arcs combined...IN WHISKEY PEAK.
Oda crams a bunch of stuff and character inside the arc because he simply can't let go of ideas so he rushes all of the plots and character developments and we are supposed to like it or be hyped about it because there's a narrator's box or character saying that we should be hyped about something or someone.
Fuck this stupid ass cringe ass Chuck Norris clown.

Not even OPM, that is clearly written as a parody of shounen and doesn't take itself too seriously, reaches this level of cringe.

You're right

Oda should have made 3 different arcs : Wano where Orochi falls, we see Retainers vs kaido as finale battle and gets Oden flashbacks , Udon arc where it focuses on Kidd , Killer & Luffy and Onigashima arc where its SNs & crews vs beast pirates (& BMP) no samurai & orochi crap
We only focus on kaido and get more proper build ups

I find it dumb that if Oden is such a major player yet we only learn about him post MF, during NW at PH or DR from Kinnemon

Oden character in the story feel forced
But we got no choice, Oden is the reason why Roger is PK and why Wano & the Whole World will see the light

Oden is a weakling carried by a magic blade and with his strongest attack he edged out a Zoro with 30 broken bones and an incomplete control of Enma.

Not to mention that he went sleeping after a single none-CoC club swing of Base Kaido.

Weakling didn't even manage to push pre-Yonkou Kaido into using Hybrid, lmao.

Zoro will be stronger by EoW. King probably pushes that scrub to extreme diff
