here's how i would counter what you said:
1) son of rocks trusted by the WG? rocks, along with roger, was one of their nightmare 'undesirables'. the WG hated roger so much they commited large-scale infanticide to make sure he has NO legacy. ace, who in this situation would be in a similar position to shanks, was doomed from the start. can you see ace walzing into mariejois and crashing the gorosei tea party? i can't. rocks' son wouldn't be treated the way shanks is treated because rocks' son would be a D and the WG hates ALL Ds.
2) the bold part: we never saw that. it's only something we have been told by characters who, i, personally, don't think are particularly trustworthy. what we know is that kaido didn't show up at marineford - that's it. remember that WG and kaido used to be crewmates? it's not impossible that kaido, though he's an asshole, wanted to go help WB - i think shanks stopped him from going and once the SHs defeat kaido, he'll drop the bomb on them. but that's also 'headcanon' at this point. we really don't know.
3) the underlined part: yeah why? to earn their trust? the trust of the people who killed his 'dad' rocks, who practise slavery, history fraud and genocide? uh... just another day in a snitch's life is what i'm seeing here. what makes a lot more sense to me is that the CDs needed a mole to infiltrate the very dangerous gol D roger's crew and had their own little dragonspawn do it because kids are cute and wherever shanks goes, the Ds get in trouble, get sick or die.
4) the italics part: yeah and why would sengoku respect rocks' son? did he respect ace? no. the admirals have one master only.
Lol, it's just a headcannon. xD
I don't really have much proof, since I'm just going with first impressions.. I could be just as wrong as the next guy. :p I do like the point you brought up in 1), but I'll comment on all those points anyway.

1) You have a great point with Ace, and it's a legit counter. But I would argue that with Ace, it was clear he was gonna aim for the top... his rapid growth, declining the Shichibukai, aiming for Whitebeard as soon as he got to NW... the WG wanted to get him asap and set an example.. it was obvious he was aiming for PK.
With Shanks, well.. it just seems that the Gorosei were familiar with him since chapter 233, with one of them saying he wasn't the sort of person to want to cause chaos or something like that... it's as if Shanks encountered them way back and reassured them of his motives, his aim, what he opts to do etc... And his actions thus far, seem to portray him as a pacifist in a way, always wanting to avoid chaos in the world.
Would it be better for Gorosei to accept talks with a Yonko who shares a common ground with you? A guy with a peacekeeping resume, and especially one who has no desire to cause world chaos? I think so.
2) Be that as it may, just because you never saw it, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Oda conveyed this from his manga.. not once, but twice even....
It's like not believing the scholars of Ohara, just because we never saw this ancient kingdom or raftel...
And why would Kaido help Whitebeard?
For an alliance, you have to have common ground... Big Mom and Kaido had a lot of common ground - both wanted a slice of Luffy,
both wanted to take over the world; Law and Luffy agreed to take down Kaido, a common ground; why would Kaido be concerned with Ace in particular? He should be rejoicing for having his worst enemy's son get sexually magma fisted in the chest.
Even if you ignore common ground, Whitebeard is different in character to Big Mom and Kaido...
Far too different.

3) Well, what if Shanks hated his father (assuming he's Rox's son), and had no grudge to the WG or Roger who were responsible for Rox's downfall? It's similar to X-Drake, who bore no grudge on Doffy, who killed his father long back, iirc. It could be why Shanks loved and respected Roger.... Shanks hated his father, and Roger was responsible for his downfall... Roger also took him in as a way to protect him.
4) the italics part: yeah and why would sengoku respect rocks' son? did he respect ace? no. the admirals have one master only.
4) Bad point.. Sengoku respected Shanks enough to abide to the latter's requests in marineford.
There is also another point I'd like to bring up:
All the other Yonkos are related to Rox, in one way or another. Whitebeard, Big Mom and Kaido were former members of the Rox pirates; Blackbeard is trying to be a Rox 2.0 - even his ship bore Rox's name. It's definitely not impossible to think Shanks could also in some way be related to Rox as well, imo.
