Kaido and Orochi are best buddies
I wonder whether after Big Mom joined... if Orochi will feel jealous hahaha.
I think the biggest problem was that only Oden matters. None of his scabards, the people of Wano, his wife or his children matter. Nothing they do actually affects this story of the flashback so by default Oden is supposed to carry the weight of this entire story
I think part of the reason that Roger and white beard part was interesting is because someone else was affecting the story. White beard gave oden the test to join him, Roger fought him and recruited him. Stuff like that. There were other actual characters who could do anything
But when we return to wano, it's only Oden again but now they've added on Orochi and Kaido as other people who can affect the story but they are antagonists AND THEY WIN. OVER AND OVER AGAIN. THEY KEEP WINNING. And thats what is making Oden so bad.
We were forced to only follow oden as the only person who can actually do jack shit and yet he keeps fucking up.
Like try and imagine this is flipped. Imagine it's Luffy and he's holding if all the strawhats including Jinbei even. What are some of the discussions we would have? There would be discussions like "Maybe Brook could use his souk form to do XYZ" or "Maybe Sanji could skywalk away" or "Maybe Chopper can shape shit and escape the bondage" or "Maybe Nami can summon Zues from that climatact thats stored in the endless void of her cleavage" or "Maybe Zoro could pick up a kitchen knife with his teach and cut up the ropes" or "Maybe Ussop can command his kabuto to do something since its a living thing" or "Maybe franky can use Coup De Boo" or "Maybe Robin can use her assassin spy skills to just dislocate a shoulder and get free"
Whatever it is, you can imagine a strawhats actually doing something to try to escape since the strawhats have been shown to be capable people who can influence the story without Luffy. UNLIKE THE SCABBARDS in this flashback because Oda chose that every important plot line can only be handled by Oden

I use whoever I want to make a reference point unless your argument is kaido is the exception to this which is pretty much headcanon.
nothing in the story suggest kaido grew significantly stronger from the time he fought oden till now . only from the rocks days till now which happened almost 20 years before oden.
