I wouldn't be mad if one piece was "the friends we made along the way". I know that's not how it's ending (as confirmed by oda), but at this rate it could end up better than what we actually get.

Even from a non cynical perspective, one piece is legendary enough to really earn an ending like that. I'd maybe even cry with that ending if executed well.
