I think the whole Nika possession thing is still a huge possibility. It doesn't make sense for Gear 5 to have no consequences. G2 drained Luffy's stamina, G3 made him small, G4 took his haki, but G5 has no negatives? it especially makes no sense when we were outright shown that Kid and Law's awakenings drained their stamina and they awakened even before Luffy did.

Obviously as a zoan, Luffy's awakening won't have the same consequences as Kid and Law's. As crocodile said, awakened zoans have higher stamina. However awakened zoans also kinda lost their minds.

Which is why imo Nika possessing Luffy is even more likely than ever. It would be the consequence of Luffy overusing G5. If Luffy overuses G5, he goes into a rage mode and nobody would be able to stop him. This might be why we only see Kaido's crazy eyed form(which bares semblance to Luffy's eyes in G5) for 1-off attacks. Kaido might not be able to spam his awakening without going into a rage and killing people.
The whole luffy sick end of series thrown to the bin. There were so many clues for something like that to happen. But hey, sometimes it all means jackshit init?

There is no freedom in Luffy's character anymore Tommy. Is he free as a person? Well yes, he isn't imprisoned and he is a captain of his own crew but he is bound by the chosen stuff which completely kills off what Oda tried to build over 23 years of writing.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad.
Oh, of course there's that too. Including destiny definitely changes how the journey will be viewed but I was looking solely at this reveal of his true fruit and what it changes and I kind of feel like Oda atleast had some previous chapters showing destiny so he fumbled (for those against it) that a while ago. Still disappointing that it doesn't come off as Luffy struggling towards his goal, unsure if he'll really make it but more of him doing what he was fated to do (still puts in work but there's no lack of assurance that he'll complete his goal). Like how Blackbeard was told to his face by Whitebeard he's not the one Roger's waiting for or the prophecy regarding which year the person succeeding Roger will be born. Kinda makes it less enticing but in regards to solely the true name of Luffy's fruit, I think there are still good aspects to it.

He literally said this awakening will be my G5. It's not possession at all. He is controlling the will of Nika himself and awaken it while no one else in 800 years can.

There are also implications that both Roger and Kaido thought they are "the one".

gorosei literally say he has a rubber body. you're the one not reading spoilers :suresure:
Of course he'd have a rubber body. Luffy believed he's rubber and therefore gained properties of rubber, and to get meta with it there's an animation style named rubber hose where characters can stretch and bend to extreme degrees like Felix the Cat and Luffy's inspiration Popeye the Sailor Man.

Luffy had a tertiary power up (ACOA), a secondary power up (ACOC), and a primary power up (Nika) this arc.

Sanji’s power up is worse than Luffy’s tertiary power up.

Zoro’s power up is barely being able to control Luffy’s secondary power up.

Luffy low/mid diffs his crew atm.
What's he gonna do? Turn them into cartoons?
