I finally got around to checking it out in 2019 and I shit you not, I had to actually google that I was watching the right show since there was such an insane discrepancy between the reviews and the actual quality. I thought for certain that there must've been a HxH brotherhood that was the real masterpiece which everyone was praising. But nah, it's just overrated as shit.
It wasn't even that I didn't find it as good as it was cracked up to be. It was that (besides 1.5 arcs), it simply wasn't good at all.

The internet manga community has a higher percentage of edgy kids than normal, and HxH is edgy on purpose.
Itยดs far more intelligent than OP and generally shounen though in most aspects, so that draws in people.
But itยดs also incredibly pretentious.
You might like it though, so i would not let other people dissuade you from checking it out.
I think i already said this in the other thread, it has pretty much the best power system i have seen in manga at the least, and one of the best arcs period with Yorknew, and up to Yorknew is also pretty good, it was also the last arc really in which Togashi combined his multifaceted approach to a conflict with actual visual storytelling.
The arc after that (Greed Island) already changed that, though it had a nice concept, but everything after that basically shit on visuals for the most part (with a few exceptions) and concentrated on walls of texts that lacked credibility and were pretentious.

Dude lol , you can hate one piece as you wish , but saying they are better is just a joke , not a good one , one piece is one of the deepest and most beautiful pieces of literature, if you are putting things like naruto, mha , haikyuu , kuroku in the same line with one piece , them you never read a book ,you are just a surface level reader who seeks enjoyment and ignore writing and nuance , you canโt analyze fiction past a surface level
Don't take my word for it. Still check it out lol, but don't expect much. You could probs skip bits and miss absolutely nothing of value. Watching episode 27-58. Then 76-136.
