It could be another OP specific mythical zoan.

However the fact why he doesn't have intangibility is something people overlook - it's because his df pulls/absorbs in everything, including pain, that's why he even takes much more pain instead and doesn't have the usual logia intangibility because of that, so IMO his Yami is a logia.

Is this gonna be the “Is it cake” of the OP fandom now?? Every single DF ability introduced before AND after Luffy’s reveal, we’re gonna sit around scratching our balls and talking about how it could just be an unrelated Mythical Zoan characteristic??

He even says it in that panel "the darkness sucks everything in, absolutely everything, bullets, blades, fire, even thunder" after that claiming that it sucks pain more than anything else, so he doesn't have the usual logia evasion.

The reason why Yami doesn't grant intangibility could be related to why he covered WB in a black cloth, unless there's no light sources around you seemingly can't turn into darkness akin to Suna Suna no Mi losing intangibility when struck by water-drenched attacks. This is just one of many explanations that don't require changing Yami's class.

As for the reason why Yami especially was needed to extract WB's power, it could be as you said, its ability to devour absolutely everything, perhaps even on a conceptual level. It could pull in and "eat" the devil of the other fruit and maybe even the soul of the previous user, but only when Yami's user turn into full darkness.

Yes because of this mess, Mythical Zoans seem to be the strongest DF's. I'm not surprised if Im-sama has a Mythical Zoan too. Luffy, Blackbeard and Im encounter would be a fight amongst gods.

It seems like Paramecia DF's and Logia have been completely forgotten. The strongest Logia types (that rival these Mythcal Zoans) I find are those of the Admirals, Ice, Magma and Light. Magellan paramecia DF is also OP.

If Blackbeard was to have a mythical power wouldn't it be in lore related like Nika?.. Maybe it would not be Hades but i think it's possible that the other devil fruit class have mythical fruit because Daifuku's abiltites are basicly that, a magical genie coming out of a lamp, if he were to awaken it could be overpowered granting wishes and such?..

Anyway i consider Luffy's mythical fruit to be higher tier than others mythical Zoans introduced so far.. I hope it's not the last in lore mythical fruit since it opens a whole new world of creative over the top crazy powers where imagination is the limit..

Perhaps Blackbeard need to meet a number of requirements to awaken another One Piece God, 3 devil fruit, a Logia, a Paramecia and a Mythical Zoan or it has to be those specific fruits and a specific Mythical Zoan..

I think BB's darkness is more closer to a blackhole as everything it sucks in gets crushed, it was implied not even light can escape his his df is closer to that than how darkness gets portrayed in other fiction. Same with Kizaru's light, he isn't holy light per se like on some other fiction.

I see BB blocking sunlight completely and use Moria's power for some shit, speaking of Moria's shadow df is closer to that.

it could be the opposite version of Nika, we know theres always Ying in every yang. Yami cancell DF ability, and Nika can also Influence other with his ability, that's why kaido also become cartoonish.

I feel like Nika was totally portrayed like the most overpowered of all devil fruits last chapter. At least from the way it was portrayed by the Gorosei.
