depends on who is town and mafia that game
when u claimed indie in alabasta we took u in good faith. only odd and mafia were complaining no? and probably tpein
I was killed by Town. I was also the counter wagon to Odd, and in fact it was all of Mafia voting with me that prevented me from being lynched. This was a game that I subbed into that had basically no gameplay going on until I did so. Alabasta game was one of the more egregious examples of being handled in poor faith, not the contrary. It was horrendous.

Father Cornello was just a tame Blackbeard role, it's a slow and steady type of role. You don't see the benifets of how powerful it is until midway through the game
It was powerful enough to stomp the game as soon as somebody was killed. It‘s just I can never maximize the ability output :goatasure:.

Lol, but in all seriousness, if anything it's like others who before Weebs perhaps could get by with an Indie claim now get to see the things I've been saying all along here. It's one of the worst customs this community has developed for me - in some cases understandable but I feel like in many it's posturing for the sake of it. Was there any good reason for Soul to kill Ultra here? If it went anywhere else Town win.
It's basically the same principle, yeah. And exactly really, I've made it pretty clear that I hate being Indie anything on WG, an exception maybe being if I really like the character I roll perhaps. I'm not going to make it even worse for me later by fakeclaiming it. Heck, the one and only time I've been a Lyncher I claimed that despite the "optimal" play being to assimilate with the Town. I think next time I'm Indie I'm just going to check out of the game mentally and mail it in a bit.
tbh i like it this way
claiming indie just to get outta PoE and expect people not to shoot u feels cheap

a true indie doesnt have to claim indie to win

thats y id almost always put a bounty on my good indies so they cant just claim and run free and wild

I think it’s also, even if they don’t think you’re fake claiming, they also think: indies bad, hurt town. But like, chances of an indie being worse than scum are very low lol. So if you don’t think they’re faking you’re better off shooting into an actual mafia POE and shooting a townie than shooting someone you feel very sure isn’t mafia.

Yeah I couldn't disagree more to be honest. I mean I think Survivor as a wincon is garbage and always has been, I'll never use it as a host myself. Outside of that having indies co-operate with the town under the guide of mutual alliance makes sense for both parties and enables the Indie to actually play without having to be careful about getting spite shot by Mafia. You're in this mindset that claiming Indie is some free ticket out for the player to get a pressure free game - Ultra and to a lesser extent you should give the lie to that assertion this game alone.

I know for a fact she had a super kill and refills, she literally could of killed mafia and worked with us townie but decided to give townie the middle finger and just rage quit instead.
I´m sorry that you think so bad of me now, hope you read the long post I´ve made in this thread where I posted my role and the actions I took. I did use my abilities on the last day, I did not have a killshot that could kill homunculi however.
And at this point I didn´t feel confident enough to use my protection or blocking ability because besides you, knowing that you had to be Edward by the way, I had no clue anymore who could be what fraction. My block only would have worked on specific players, once again not including homunculi. So I decided not to use this abilities that day because I would have made things probably even worse if I accidentally ended up protecting a bad guy (which happened on day 1 as I protected Worst because you both mentioned me in your posts and at this point either one of you two could have been Edward to me) or blocked a townie. I also thought it might be more helpful if no one gets blocked that day because Scar´s group and mafia could have been fighting and harming each other too by using their abilities on each other.

I think it defaults to laziness really. The townie that shoots tells themselves that they can claim to not have harmed town because it's just an indie they're risking. It's having your cake and eating it too, really. They want to have indies come forward and remove themselves from the PoE, but also want the indie to throw their wincon under the guise of helping town, and when it comes to helping the indie in return, then the town kill the indie off because well, they're not town. It's utter nonsense really. I've no idea where it came from too but it has been here for basically since WG started off so I suspect it came from the tail-end of the OJ era.

I mean, if you hang your had on like 3 of 12 players willing to work with said indie, I think my case is made lol.

it technically is. i mean look at blue. was suspected since the start and claimed indie for a free ticket to coast

u just have to accept it for what it is. mafia can fake claim indies any time and the wincons r very easy to fake. there is no reason for town to trust indies anymore after these games. maybe if the indie was fully open with town yes, but alibaba wasnt. his actions were anti town and he never fully claimed his wincon. thats not good faith.

now if u wanna talk about a good faith indie, they are boring asfk most of the time. like u basically tell town what u can do and what ur goal is. u r basically revealing ur entire role. whats the point of playing then. thats boring.

survivors r the most boring roles BUT they can always be fixed by bounties or claim restrictions. but yea they r usually boring. glad i never rolled one.

winning without claiming indie requires good threadplay to stay alive from both town and mafia. thats how a neutral plays. this makes the indie win much more fun and unexpected.

protown indies can claim if they want. they r basically a townie with an easier or harder wincon depending on the indie. thats up to them. claiming is wack imo and just stops giving mafia incentive to kill them while the indie rains on mafia. put a bounty on it and thats better now. or claim restrict or weaken it of it claimed
